Myrna Stieber’s Celebration of Life will be held on July 24, 2023 at 10:30 am at New Hope United Methodist Church: 1205 N 45th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska.

On July 5, 2023, Myrna Lee Stieber, 86, joined her Heavenly Father, husband, and 2 sons. She was surrounded and comforted by her loving family and fought a courageous battle with cancer to the end. Myrna was born, July 8, 1936 to John and Velma (Mason) Hansen in Friend, Nebraska. She wed Richard Stieber on December 12, 1964; together they raised three boys, Robert (Marty), Barry, and Greg. Myrna was a loving mother and knew how to keep her boys in line.

Myrna was a dedicated insurance agent at the Waverly Insurance Agency for decades. She loved helping her clients and valued the many friendships she forged through her work. She retired in 2001 and dedicated her time to family, church, charity, and travel.

Myrna was a lifelong member of the New Hope United Methodist Church (formerly Grace United Methodist Church). She looked forward to Tuesdays and time with the Tuesday Quilters, as well as participating in food distribution with Food Net and the Clothing Closet at her church.

Myrna and Richard were avid campers. She was a member of the Family Campers and RVers, the Rollin’ Turtles Camping Club, and was a former campground host with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Many family memories were created on camping trips throughout the Midwest.

Myrna was a woman that was always on the move—she selflessly worked to make life better for the less fortunate, including all her four-legged friends. She loved to volunteer at the Humane Society where she and Richard adopted Spice.

More than anything else, Myrna was a matriarch and was committed to her family. Her home was always open, every birthday was celebrated, and there was a gift for everyone under the Christmas Tree. She looked forward to gathering at the annual Hansen Family Reunion, a tradition she wants to live on.

Myrna leaves behind to mourn her passing: Son Robert M. Cardwell (Betty Shuck), North Bend, NE; Daughter-in-law Kimberly Cardwell, Scottsbluff, NE; Special Friend Judy Pitoniak, Columbia, MO; Sister Ruth (Ken) Jones, Hutchinson, KS; Grandchildren Joe (Janelle) Cardwell, Laura (Dale) Vanderpool, Tammi (John) James, Sarah (Lucas) Stone, Richard (Blake) Cardwell, Katrina (Jon) McRoberts, Jonathan Cardwell, Cameron (Dana) Cardwell, Kendra Cardwell, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Myrna was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard; 2 sons, Barry and Greg Cardwell; parents, John and Velma Hansen; and sister, Marian Ross.

Memorials to the Capital Humane Society or New Hope United Methodist Church.

Roger Glenn Snyder

featured image

Roger Glenn Snyder was born in Auburn, NE on March 28, 1938, to Harlan E. and D. Thelma (Waltz) Snyder on March 28, 1938 in Auburn, NE.

The family moved to Lincoln in 1946. During high school Roger was in the Marine ROTC, graduating from University High School in 1956.  After graduation, he served in the USMC for 4 years, much of it spent in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1961. Upon returning home, he worked in sales at a drug store in Oklahoma City.  He then went to work for Wang Laboratories selling computers. He moved back to Nebraska deciding to work in car sales because his car had given out. He worked as a car salesman at Vanice Pontiac Cadillac, Misle Chevrolet, and Du Teau Chevrolet in Lincoln before moving to Grand Island and working in sales management at Kinman Chevrolet Cadillac. It was there that Roger interviewed his future wife, Georgia Kruse, and hired her to work in sales. They moved to North Platte where he worked as a sales manager for Rich Watson Auto Center.

Roger and Georgia were married in North Platte in 1982. In 1990, they moved to Henderson, NV for Georgia’s teaching career with the Clark County School District. Roger continued to work in auto sales, leaving that to work in the school district as a beloved bus driver and later, campus security. He retired from the school district, went to real estate school and became a realtor.

After Georgia’s retirement, Roger expressed a desire to move back to Nebraska to be closer to family. They arrived in Lincoln in June of 2020 and enjoyed spending more time with family and friends.

From an early age, Roger was always changing the design of whatever he owned to suit him, typically making it better. First, he took apart a brand new bicycle. Later, he made improvements on a 1950 Ford that he turned into a street rod. As life continued, Roger turned to fixing his homes. He took pride in every home he owned and made impressive improvements to each one. He could look at the design and see how much better it could be. Then he would draw up plans, buy materials, and start the project. So, there was always a project!

Roger passed from this life on May 26 surrounded by his loving wife and family members.

Roger is survived by his best friend and wife of forty years, Georgia, of Lincoln; brothers Richard (Laurie) of Olathe, KS and Ken (Jo) of Nebraska City; daughters from a previous marriage Tracy and Trina; three grandsons, Todd, Stephen and Orien and one granddaughter, Kira. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Pete Kruse (Denice) of Grand Island; Gary Kruse (Cindy) of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters-in-law BK (Rick) Kapernick of Los Alamos, NM and Nancy Kruse of North Platte plus many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Patti Kruse, brother-in-law Steven Kruse, and nephew Lloyd Andersen.

A Celebration of Life for Roger will be held at a later date.
