Scott Schneider

August 9, 1955 – February 17, 2026
Scott Schneider passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1955, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Christian and Virginia Schneider.
Scott graduated from Lincoln High School in 1973, where he made many lifelong and cherished friendships. He loved playing baseball in high school, carrying his knowledge and love for the game through the rest of his life.
Scott married Jane Anderson in 1978, and they had two daughters, Ann and Lori. He played on many softball teams over the years, also sharing his passion by coaching girls’ fastpitch while his daughter Lori played for the Lincoln Swingers. He worked for BNSF Railway for 40 years, making and maintaining many friendships which he enjoyed after retirement.
Scott enjoyed supporting his daughters, nieces, and nephews in their sports and arts as they grew up. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing, beer-making and meeting with the Lincoln Lagers Homebrew Club, trying new recipes in his smoker, playing cribbage and other card games, watching Husker sports, riding his E-Bike, and taking his little dog Penny to the park. He most enjoyed trips with Jane to visit their daughters in many parts of the country. He enjoyed exploring local traditions, hidden gems, and regional foods. We will miss his sense of curiosity, humor, and steadfast love for family and friends.
Scott is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Ann (Chey) Collura and Lori Schneider; sister Jody (Mickey) Damian; sister-in-law Carol (Larry) Baus; nieces and nephews: Michael Debus, Melissa (Ross) Bell, Wendi (Brian) Herbin, Angela (Mike) Barry, Bob (Mandy) Finder, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Jennifer Finder and many beloved family members.
Scott’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, 12:00 Noon at the Watering Hole East, 8300 Northwoods Dr., Lincoln, NE 68505.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes Scott to be remembered with donations to KZUM Radio and Tabitha Hospice.
