Matthew Scott Schrader

Matt S. Schrader, 37, Douglas, NE, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2026.
Matt was born on November 13, 1988, in St. Paul, Nebraska, to Jerome and Hazel “Mickie” Schrader. He graduated from Palmyra High School. Following high school, he worked various jobs in the Lincoln area, where he built friendships and connections that lasted throughout the years.
Matt found great peace and enjoyment in fishing. Whether casting a line on a quiet day or spending time outdoors with family and friends, fishing was one of the simple pleasures that brought him happiness.
Matt faced personal struggles with addiction and mental health throughout his life. These challenges were part of his journey, and he fought battles that many never saw. His family hopes that by sharing this, others who are struggling will know they are not alone and will reach out for help.
He is survived by his parents, Jerome and Hazel (Mickie) Schrader; his brother, Jerry (Stephanie) Schrader; his sisters, Betty (Curt) Fowler and Heather (James) Zimmerman; his children, Keegan, Kenadee, and Hunter Schrader; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ashleigh; his grandparents, Farnum and Ruth Schrader, and Betty Miller.
Matt will be remembered for his quiet strength, and the memories he created with those closest to him. His unexpected passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Matt and I met in treatment and we instantly became like brother and sister! I pray he know how much he helped me and every one around us. Matt was a solid person and it was always a good time with him involved. I will miss you brother until we meet again!

I really can’t believe this. Another one of the truly good ones taken. Life is pain, it feels like it will never cease. I just wanted to share that
…Matt was truly one of the good ones left in an ugly world. He was caring and kind, and…loved his kids more than life itself. This is tragic and I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Such a good guy! So sorry to the Schrader family! Fly high brother!
