Charlene Rae Willet

Charlene Rae (Bohrer) Willet flew away on October 27, 2023.  She was born on July 21, 1944.

Charlene grew up in Beatrice, NE, with the best childhood memories!  She graduated from Beatrice Highschool in 1962.  She married Robert (Buck) Willet and their greatest joy was their 2 daughters!  Buck sadly passed in 1969 at age 30, after a battle with Cancer.  Charlene then was a stay-at-home mom for many years in Lincoln, raising both young girls on her own.  She then worked as an Administrative Assistant at McKesson Corp., in Lincoln and in Harrison, Arkansas.  Returned to Lincoln to work as an Annuities Rep at Allstate Insurance Co.  However, her proudest achievement was being a mother, special aunt and fun-loving grandmother (Mammo).  Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.  She adored her 3 grandsons and loved every moment spent with them!  She loved the many family vacations and the girl trips spent with her daughters and nieces.

Survived by 2 Daughters Corey (Ken) Koziol and Timi Willet, both of Lincoln.  3 Grandsons Eli Koziol of Derby, KS, Trae Koziol and Josh Hain, both of Lincoln.  2 Nieces Julee Ferrara of Eagle Pt, OR, and Jena Hubbard of Folsom, CA.  Along with several Cousins from KS and TX, and many Great Nephews from MO, CA and OR.

Preceded in death by her Husband Robert (Buck) Willet, Mother Marguerite (Black) Bohrer, Father Paul (Speck) Bohrer, Brothers Cecil Wrightsman, Paul (Allen) Bohrer and Sister Jeanette (Bohrer) Hubbard.  Along with many Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Charlene will always be remembered for her silly wit, and as having the biggest, kindest heart and smile for everyone she ever met.  She will be missed dearly by so many!

No service or memorial donations at this time.

Favorite memories would be so welcome!  Thank you.

Mary Lou Walter was born on November 11th, 1927, in the home of her parents Joseph Chester (Chet) Reason and Maude Mae Reason in Hastings, Nebraska. Along with her sister Nathalie, the family moved to Lincoln when Mary Lou was ten months old. She attended Clinton Grade School, Whittier Junior High, and Lincoln High School graduating in 1945. At Lincoln High, she met LeRoy Walter, and they were married on May 16th, 1948. LeRoy passed away September 18th, 2010. They were married for 62 years.

While attending Lincoln High, Mary Lou worked over the lunch hour as a cashier in the cafeteria. During that time, she also worked as a cashier at Walgreens on 13th and O Streets. After graduating, she worked as a cashier at Hardy Furniture for four years. Mary Lou did bookkeeping and various other jobs to assist LeRoy at his company Lee Walter Plastic-Graphics for most of her adult life.

Her interests included gardening, sewing, bowling, roller skating, and music. She and LeRoy sang in the church choir at Ebenezer United Church of Christ for forty-five years. She also sang with the Melodoes and Sweet Adelines.

Mary Lou and LeRoy had three children, Patricia Lee born May 8th, 1949-died October 3rd , 2015, Janet Kay born October 3rd, 1950, and Richard LeRoy born December 5th, 1953 (on LeRoy’s 26th birthday). Grandchildren were born to Janet and her husband Larry Johnson starting with Jared, followed by Darren, and Andrew, Jared and his wife Heather provided Mary Lou and LeRoy with two great grandchildren, Lucas and Derek.

Mary Lou was a very loving wife, mother, and friend. She always held a deep love for animals, and the Walter family always had a dog or two; Prince, Tweedy and Simon (registered toy poodles) and finally Sadie. Mary Lou loved visits from the furry babies of her family!
