Ernest Kenneth Stanczyk

Ernest Kenneth Stanczyk died peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 79, at his home in Beatrice, Nebraska. Kenny was born on January 12, 1945 to Ernest and Madelon Stanczyk in Abilene, Texas.

He is survived by his children, Marci Reffert (Rod), Randi Aksamit (Doug), Sean Stanczyk (Barb). His grandchildren, Robin and Brooke Rathbone, Zachary (Alexandria) and Abigail Stanczyk. He had three great grandchildren.

Kenny graduated from St. Paul high school in 1963 and went onto Milford trade school to learn auto body repair. He served with the US Army guard 259th unit, in 1968–69 as staff sergeant of ordinance explosives. He bravely fought for his country in Vietnam, serving in Dadang and Chu Lai for 18 months. Kenny made his career working for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 36 years.

Kenny was cremated as per his wishes; the family will hold a Memorial Service at a later date and time, to be determined.

Mark Watt, Beloved Coach, Educator, and Mentor, Passes Away at 68

Mark Watt, 68, a celebrated coach, dedicated educator, and beloved mentor, has passed away surrounded by family in Lincoln, Nebraska. A devoted husband and father, Mark’s life was marked by an enduring passion for sports, a commitment to his students, and an unwavering dedication to his community.

Mark grew up in Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan and earned a Masters Degree in Health Promotion and Wellness Management at Springfield College in Massachusetts. Mark’s career took him far and wide, from teaching overseas in Greece and Saudi Arabia to the corporate wellness field in Connecticut.

For the last 32 years, he made his home in Nebraska, with a career teaching physical education and coaching that began at Brownell Talbot School in Omaha and ended with 26 years at Lincoln Public Schools and a stint as volunteer coach with the Nebraska Husker Softball Team. He became a respected figure at Lincoln Southwest High School and his influence was profound, not only as a teacher in the Health and Physical Education department but as a creator of the “Fitness for Life” program, which instilled healthy habits and the values of perseverance and discipline in countless students.

Mark’s legacy on the softball field is unparalleled. Over 20 seasons as the Girls Softball coach at LSW, he led his teams to four state championships and achieved a staggering 579 victories, making him Nebraska’s winningest coach in his sport and two time Coach of the Year. His devotion to his athletes went beyond wins and losses; Mark was a mentor who taught life lessons, showing his players how to excel with integrity, resilience, and teamwork. This year, his incredible achievements were celebrated with his induction into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame, a well-deserved recognition of his enduring impact on Nebraska athletics.

Mark loved his family with all his heart and is survived by an extended family, who were his biggest fans and greatest source of pride. His wife, Ann, and daughters, Lindsay and Kelsey, will remember him for his passion, boundless energy, and especially his sense of humor and big laugh. Mark’s spirit will live on in the lives he touched and in the legacy of excellence and compassion he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at Wilderness Ridge on Sunday, November 24th from 2-4. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the LSW Coach Watt Scholarship, continuing Mark’s mission to support and uplift the community he loved so dearly. Mark Watt will be remembered as a giant in his field, a treasured mentor, and a beloved friend whose legacy will be felt for generations to come.

Nadine Kay Ware

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nadine Kay Ware, who left us on November 3rd at the age of 77. Nadine was born on April 6th, 1947 in Lakeport, California to Keith and Eulalia Sexton.

Nadine was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. She touched the lives of so many with her kindness, unconditional love and her sweet giggle that was always present.

Nadine is survived by Mike and Trina Ware and granddaughter Elly Ware, Emily and Skylar Lybarger and great grandson Elijah Lybarger, Eric and (Daughter) Heather Herman, grandchildren Ryan and Ryley Herman, Jeremy and (Daughter) Starla Mitchell and Grandchildren Noah and fiancé Shelby, Faith and Hannah Mitchell, along with countless friends who will miss her dearly.

Nadine is preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd Ware, and her parents Keith and Eulalia Sexton.

A Celebration of Life meal in memory of Nadine will be held on November 8th at 11:30 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting donations for a memorial at Hillcrest Firethorn in her name.

Please dress casually and wear lavender, Nadine’s favorite color, if you wish!

Marcelo Hernaldo Arévalo-Saez

We are sorry to announce the sensitive death of our beloved son, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.  Marcelo “Chelo” Hernaldo Arévalo-Saez, 43, of Lincoln Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by the tenderness of his friends and family and is now playing his music in Heaven.

Marcelo was born October 30, 1981 in Valdivia, Chile. In 2004, he moved to the United States to start a new journey with his former wife, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Over the years, Marcelo lovingly shared his passions and talents of music, culinary arts, painting, and humor with all of those around him.

Marcelo lived in Boston, Omaha, Des Moines, Iowa and Northern Colorado and returned to the heartland, his home, Lincoln, Nebraska.  Everywhere Marcelo went, he made friends and gave back to his community, playing with various music groups, working for non-profits, and local restaurants.

Marcelo is survived by his “Sweetheart” daughter Maya Arévalo-Miller, parents, siblings, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews and his extended family of so many “Amigos” from around the world.
