Sandra (Sam) was born August 12, 1947 to William and Anglea Combs in Denver, CO. She passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 77. She grew up in Sterling, CO and graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic High School, in 1965. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Her courage in facing every obstacle life threw her way was an inspiration to all who knew her. Sam built a legacy of strength in her children and friends.

After graduating high school she left Colorado and moved to Lincoln, NE.  Here she raised her three children, Tim, Tara and Crystal, but her heart was always in Colorado. After her children left home she moved back to Colorado and attended Colorado State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She worked for many years with troubled adolescents. Eventually, she came back to Lincoln to be closer to her family and spend quality time with her granddaughter, Maia.

Her laughter came easily, she loved antiques and loved to garden, never missing an opportunity to get new plants and flowers.  She was alway up for new adventures and took advantage of any opportunity to see the beautiful mountains in Colorado.  She took great joy in creating wonderful memories sharing those mountains with her family and friends.

Left to mourn her are her family, who were the center of her world.  Family members include her son Timothy Folden; and daughters Tara Folden, and Crystal Folden Lapin (Jeff); granddaughter Maia Lapin; and many cousins. Sam will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the family and friends she cherished. “We love you Mom and miss you dearly.”

Per Sam’s wishes, we will celebrate her life up in the mountains among the wildflowers she loved. Here she can rest with the best view after her long well lived life.
