Marie E. Waters

It is with great sadness we announce that last Sunday (Dec 4), Marie Elizabeth Waters passed peacefully at the Elizabeth House in Lincoln Nebraska with her family by her side.  She was 87.

Marie was born in Lake Mary Florida to the late Mary and Leonard Shriner on December 27, 1934. Marie was a praying woman who loved her family and friends. Sharing her faith in Jesus is an important part of her legacy as well as her joyful singing of hymns. Marie acted as an important hub, keeping her scattered family members in touch with each other.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harget; brothers, Wayne, Clifford, Charles, and Lewis; son, Mark; grandsons Michael, Joey, and Daniel.

Marie is survived by her children, George (Pauline), and Mary Ruth; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Jessica, Aaron, and Kristen; 8 great grandchildren; and her brothers, Leonard, and Walter.

A spring memorial will be held along the banks of the French Broad River in her beloved mountains of North Carolina.

Thomas “Tom” C. Walters, 66, of Lincoln died on December 3, 2022, at The Monarch by Eastmont in Lincoln, after a lengthy and courageous battle of cancer and its complications. Tom is survived by his daughter Lyndsay (Brandon) Uglow of Lincoln and grandsons Jordan and Ashton, and daughter Sunny Walters also of Lincoln.

Tom was born in Columbus, Nebraska on January 14, 1956 to Richard and Alta Walters (both deceased) and has six surviving siblings: Ron (and Donna Guthery) of Houston, Texas; John (and Janet) of Hastings, Minnesota; Sara (and Bob Tlustos) of Omaha; Ann Walters Tillery of Lincoln; Karen Gaughen of Columbus; and Don (Cindy) of Omaha. Tom also leaves behind special friends Betty, Karissa and the entire Agudo family of Lincoln.

Tom was a 1974 graduate of Columbus High School and a 1976 graduate of Trinity Western College in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Growing up, Tom was known for his endless parade of friends coming over to the house to play card games. Tom lettered in high school football, basketball and played baseball. While attending Trinity Western College in Canada, Tom played on the college basketball team and later coached the girls basketball team.

Tom was a hard worker. He started as a traveling lineman for Nebraska Public Power District moving onto maintenance operations at the Sutherland coal plant operating a Melroe coal dozer. In February 1985 Tom moved his family of four to Coushatta, Louisiana and continued working in coal operations for Cleco-Mansfield Power Plant. Tom was a member of the Coushatta Methodist Church, church choir, and a member of the church board for the three years they lived in Coushatta. He enjoyed playing softball with his work team during the summer weekends. In November 1988 he moved his family back to Nebraska to be closer to extended family. Tom then worked for Jacob North Printing and attended Southeast Community College and received his Printer Technician degree following his family roots in the printing field.

Tom was a devoted friend to many and was known as someone who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He shared his later years in life with the Agudo family and enjoyed the extra company and adventures as a surrogate father, uncle and grandfather.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date as his final wish is to have his ashes laid to rest in the Columbus Cemetery beside his parents. The family is eternally grateful to the many devoted health care professionals at Traditions Hospice and The Monarch by Eastmont in Lincoln who provided Tom with exceptional and compassionate 24/7 benevolent end-of-life care.

Tom passed in peace.

Linda Kay Woolsey

Linda Kay (Chaney) Woolsey, of Lincoln, formerly of Wymore, passed away at Bryan East Hospital, in Lincoln, on November 13, 2022.

Linda was born October 10, 1945 to Earl and Esther (Schultz) Chaney, in Beatrice. She spent her childhood years in Wymore and graduated from Wymore High School in 1963.

On September 28, 1963 she married Larry Francis Woolsey and from that union they had a son, Brian and a daughter, Tammy. During the early years of the their marriage, they resided in Lincoln and also Garland, Nebraska, before moving back to Wymore. Linda worked a the Beatrice State Developmental Center and for many years at the Good Samaritan Center in Wymore, where she was first a cook and then the Dietary Manager until her retirement. Upon retirement she moved to Lincoln, where she was closer to her children, grand-children and several friends.

Her hobbies included, Elvis, cooking and baking for her family and others. There wasn’t a grocery store she couldn’t spend hours in. She also loved going to her children’s school events and when her children were grown, she had her dogs and cats along the way to take care of.

She is survived  by her children, Brian Woolsey(Lisa Robertson) of Lincoln, Tammy Woolsey (Todd Packett) of Marysville, Kansas; by two grandchildren, Gage Woolsey of Lincoln and Sierra Woolsey of South Daytona, Florida;   by her beloved Bulldog, Wrigley Field Woolsey; by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty Jo (Woolsey) and Dale Marples, of Omaha;  by a brother-in-law, Melvin Andrews of Wymore; by four nieces and one nephew.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Esther Chaney, by her husband, Larry, March 3, 1982, by her sister, Charlotte Andrews, by many pets that she has missed, NickNack, Gidget, Bogie, Max, Addi, Bailey and Napoleon the parakeet

Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on December 6, 2022 at Westside Baptist Church, 448 W Court St, Beatrice, NE. A private family burial will be that morning.

Dustin Lee Walters

Dustin L Walters passed away peacefully on Nov 6, 2022.

Dustin was born January 11, 1986 in Kearney Nebraska to Randall Walters of Omaha and LaDonna Walters of Waverly Nebraska.

Dustin is survived by Brothers Shane Walters and Logan Walters of Waverly, Nebraska;.his niece and nephew; Grandmother Marjorie Wollenberg of Seneca, Kansas;Grandfather Kenneth Walters of Cozad Nebraska; Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: Grandfather Ernest Wollenberg; Grandmother Kathy Walters; Uncle Lonnie Wollenberg; and Cousin Jared Rottinghaus.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Ronald Eugene Wise

Ron Wise Sr. of Lincoln, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2022. Ron was born on August 10, 1941, to Earl and Marie (Hawkins) Wise in Beatrice, NE. After his family moved to Lincoln, he attended Whittier Junior High School and then Lincoln High School, where he met his lifelong love, Karen. They were married on January 24, 1960. They were blessed with three sons; Ron Jr., Randy, and Steve, and two sons born at rest; Jeff and Todd. Ron found his love for horses early on in his childhood, which led him to becoming a full-time thoroughbred owner/trainer in 1975. He spent the next 30+ years celebrating victory after victory with family and friends. Ron was always up for a good game of pitch and could never resist a sweet treat, even at 3am. Being around his family was his greatest joy.

He is survived by his sons: Ron Wise Jr. (Lisa), Randy Wise and Steve Wise (Asiya); Grandchildren: Jason Wise, Stacy Masek (Ryan), Jordan Wise (Kacie), Riley and Seth Wise; Great Grandchildren: Ainsley Wise, Harper Masek, Weston Wise, Nora Wise and Henley Masek.

He was preceded in death by his wife Karen, sons Jeff and Todd, Mother Marie, Father Earl, Sister Phyllis Schmidt, and Brother Don Wise.

A grave-site-only service will be held on Wednesday, November 9th, at 3:00pm, at Lincoln Memorial, 6800 S 14th St. **Please meet at Gate 2**

Reception to immediately follow at Lee’s Chicken Restaurant, 1940 W Van Dorn St.
