Donald E. Wischmann
Born on April 8, 1936. Passed away on August 30, 2022. Don was born on April 8, 1936 and was from Ashland Nebraska where he lived until he married Lois Stolley. On April 10, 1964 he then moved to Lincoln. Don worked for BNSF at the Havelock shops holding many different positions and keeping everyone on their toes until he retired after 40 some years. In December of 1989 he and Lois bought a farm and moved to Valparaiso, Nebraska where he farmed and raised cattle until he could no longer get in the field. Don is survived by his two sons Mark Lincoln Jon (Kristel) Valparaiso, Nebraska; Grandchildren Dustin Lena (Hayden) Tim (Krystal) Asa (Jessica) Danny (Veronica); Great Grandchildren Asher Madison Brielle Tyson Hailey Emiya Fenix Christian Penelope Ariella; Brothers and Sisters Bob George (Karen) Paul (Dian) Helen (Dennis) and Leona; Many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Preceded in death by his wife Lois parents Willie and Alvina Wischmann and in laws Herbert and Lena Stolley; brother in law and sister in law Vern and Joanne Mares. Charles Edward Wing
Charles “Charlie” E. Wing, age 79, passed away August 24, 2022. He was born March 17, 1943, to Francis and Irene (Buckingham) Wing in Lincoln, Nebraska. Charlie married Mary Margaret Urwiller on February 12, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lincoln, NE. He had 2 daughters, Heidi Marie (1970) and Sonya Kay (1971). Charlie was a member of St. James, Prince of Peace, and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For 10 years, he served as a volunteer fireman with the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department. He loved cooking, fishing, and being a Grandpa. After retiring from being the manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Kearney, he moved back to Lincoln with Mary Margaret. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Charlie is survived by daughters, Heidi M. Sampson of Omaha and Sonya Kay Wing (Patrick H. Mowry) of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jessica, Ashleigh, Job, Patience, Faith, and Johnah; great-grandchildren: Logan, Nanaleigh, Salem, and Arya, all of Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Monday, September 12th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (3128 “S” Street, Lincoln, NE) with Fr. Leo Kosch as celebrant. Please come and celebrate the life of a man whom everybody loved! A luncheon will follow in the school gymnasium next to the church. Private burial at a later date. Laura Hyland Weymouth
Laura H. Weymouth (96) died early Sunday morning, July 31, 2022. Laura was born at home in Grape Grove, Green County, Ohio, to Goldie (Cox) and James Hyland on October 2, 1925. She received her undergraduate degree from a small college in Ohio, then secured a graduate degree in Library Science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The citizens of Lincoln, Nebraska benefitted for over three decades from Laura’s expansive knowledge of history, science, geography, and the arts while she worked as a book buyer for the Lincoln City Libraries. Members of her family and circle of friends benefitted from her expansive vocabulary and the way she used the English language. Books served as both her vocation and avocation, but she also painted and was active in the local art world, serving on the board of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild. Laura was preceded in death by her spouses John W. Weymouth and Edgar Pearlstein, and by her children Tory and Lenny Pearlstein. She is survived by her sister Marilyn; her stepchildren Terry (Jacki Cohen); Evelyn; and Dan (Deborah Little), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Laura lived for the past 13 years at Legacy Estates in Lincoln where she and John made a comfortable retirement home after leaving their home on Meadowbrook Lane. The family thanks the many employees and staff members there, particularly those in Assisted Living where Laura spent the last four months of her life. Laura’s cremains will be interred in the columbarium at the Unitarian Church in Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln City Libraries, the Lincoln Artists’ Guild, the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, or to a favorite organization of your choice.
