Daniel Arthur Rollins
Daniel Arthur Rollins aka Dan/Dano/Danny, entered Heaven on April 29, 2020 at his home in Lincoln with Jen by his side. Dan was born on October 18, 1954 in Yokosuka, Japan on a US Naval Base to Wendell Ivan Rollins and Masako Ogawa. His early childhood years were spent San Diego. He later moved nearer to family in Omaha and attended Omaha North High School, then Firth, Nebraska where he graduated from Norris High School in 1972 and played football. Growing up everyone believed he was Native American instead of Japanese due to his dark tan and one of his sisters (Deborah) memories was him attempting to rebel by tattooing himself on the shoulder / hand before they were popular (his father told him it was dumb). Dan retired from Goodyear in 2006 after spending for 34 years of dedicated, hard work of pulling rubber hoses and other productions. Dan was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and one of his favorite verses that he lived by was Romans 5: 3-5. He was involved in outreach ministries, belonged to and served on many committees at Northern Lighthouse Church, F Street Neighborhood Church and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He attended the men’s breakfast Bible study and enjoyed Saturday mornings on the church parsonage porch drinking coffee and talking with church friends. He also volunteered time with Bridges of Hope, a member/leader/sponsor with the Gamblers Anonymous Program for over 35 years, and a leader of the Re-Integration Program (RIP) of Lincoln. His family remembers Dan as a handsome ‘ladies’ man, humorous, and outgoing. Dan had a huge giving heart, was quick to laugh, and loved a good joke. He always found a way to connect with people during a conversation and loved family / friend gatherings. He was available ANYTIME to help friends and family with ANYTHING, and enjoyed sending cards for birthdays to family and friends without missing a date. Dan was a proud father and grandfather. He made sure Jen was hydrated with Gatorade at her sporting events and continued to encourage her later by attending a mini indoor triathlon to take pictures during her later years. He would pick her up for breakfast and take her to school, and continued the tradition with his grandsons, Gavin & Holden. Dan loved to participate in athletic events until his health prohibited him from doing so. In his early days, he would impress others by jumping straight up onto a picnic table from a standing position. He loved to go fishing, swam like a fish, was an avid golfer and participated in leagues (everyday if he could and always thought he could do better), and was involved with multiple men’s / co-ed softball leagues. Dan loved attending the College World Series, and other sporting events. Later in life he enjoyed watching them on TV, even golf and auto racing. His favorite teams, besides the Huskers, were the San Diego Padres, Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners. Jen gave him a hard time about having to purchase Longhorn/Sooner apparel for gifts! If you have ever met Dan, you would agree he had a big appetite, eat anything, finished everyone’s leftovers, and loved to go out to eat to flirt with the waitresses! He especially enjoyed Village Inn coffee with pies (cherry), Outback fried shrimp, Arby’s roast beef, strawberry shakes, York Peppermint patties, homemade Shepard’s Pie, meatloaf meals from Russ’s, ‘Tastees’ sandwiches, and at home, burnt chocolate chip cookie, Oreos or dry cake covered with milk. Dan is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Rollins, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Gavin Newell (Phoenix and Easton) and Holden Newell, his sister Deborah (Rick) Tenopir, half-brother, Scott Rollins, several nieces/nephews, other children, Morganne Roll, Patrick Rollins and Taytam Rollins, many close friends. Preceded in death by father, Wendell Rollins. Dan will be remembered by his dear relatives as well as a multitude of friends. Please consider memorials in lieu of flowers to the family for the Lincoln Re-Integration Program (RIP) Lincoln Ministry or Northern Lighthouse Church Charity Auto Program for tools (if paid with check, make payable to Jennifer Rollins). Send memorials to Aspen Cremation Service, 4822 Cleveland Ave., Lincoln, NE 68504. Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 19th from 2-5 pm at the Isles Reception Hall (6232 Havelock Ave) with possible social distancing and limited capacity due to the pandemic regulations. “Pat” Patricia Anne Rowell
Patricia Anne “Pat” Rowell was called home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2020. Pat died peacefully, surrounded by her three sons. Prior to her life in Falls City, Pat was blessed to have seen and visited most of our great nation and other countries. Her children were born as follows, Kevin (St Augustine, Florida), Alicia (The Island of Guam), Kyle (San Diego, California), and Kristopher (Waukegan, North Chicago). During her dynamic life as a Navy wife, Pat made a home for her family in each of those cities as well as Norfolk, Virginia, Pensacola, Florida (twice), Honolulu, Hawaii, and Falls City. Pat made friends wherever her family was stationed and is beloved by her friends around the country and across the world. Pat loved children and was deeply devoted to bettering the lives of children in any way she could everywhere she went. Wherever our family was stationed Mom volunteered in our church. When she and Larry settled in Falls City, Pat worked at the Head Start Program and drove the bus for Head Start for a time. As a member of The Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City for many years, Pat volunteered including cooking meals on Wednesday nights for the youth program. She enjoyed telling us that she loved making sure those kids got a good home cooked meal every Wednesday night. Pat was a beautiful singer. She loved to share her love of God in song both in the choir and as a soloist. Dad loved to hear Mom sing. Pat enjoyed reading, and often volunteered to read to children including at her daughter-in-law, Theresa’s, elementary school in Panama City, Florida. Pat loved gardening and canning her harvest and instilled that love for growing things in each of her children. For Pat, spending time helping others, loving her family, sharing her life with her family and friends, and sharing her love for God we’re her greatest joy. Pat was a Navy wife for 28 years. Being born in St Augustine and living a life as a Navy wife, it’s no surprise that Mom loved the beach. Whenever she visited, she was sure to make a trip to the beach. As a Navy wife Pat often performed the duties of both mother and father to her children. Pat was a strong woman, a Southern Belle, with the ability to “wither” any one of her children with a look. But Mom surrounded each of us with her love and knew us as individuals. We always knew we were loved with her whole heart. Larry and Pat moved to Falls City, Nebraska in 1986 after Larry retired from the Navy. Their marriage was a testimony of their love for each other, and for their children. Their devotion to each other and to the Lord was evident to all who knew them. Pat is now reunited in Heaven with Larry, the love of her life, and with her daughter, Alicia. Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Rowell (Retired Navy AGCS, 1958-1986), of Falls City, and her daughter, Alicia Colleen Rowell, of Falls City. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Lee Rowell (Jannine), Kyle William Rowell (Theresa) and Kristopher Erick Rowell as well as Sandy Warren who she loved as a mother loves a daughter; by her grandchildren, Justin Rowell, Kyla Adams, Seth Adams, Zachary Rowell, Travis Rowell, Conner Rowell, Gabriella Rowell, and Jackson Rowell, as well as Ciara Catlin and Tyler Catlin whom she loved as a grandmother loves her grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren Ella Adams, Noel Adams, Harrison Adams, and Caden Rowell. In lieu of flowers, we ask that anyone who wishes to, please send a donation to The Monarch House in Lincoln Nebraska. The Monarch House is a wonderful hospice facility that provided our family with a peaceful, quiet, caring environment where we could be with Mom in her final days on this earth. Pat would rejoice knowing that your donation allowed someone less fortunate to have that peace in their final days. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11 am at The Good News Assembly of God Church, located at 600 Reavis Street, Falls City, Nebraska 68355. A Pot Luck Supper will be held at the church immediately following services. Please plan to share a meal with Pat’s Family as we celebrate her life, and rejoice in her legacy of faith in God and devotion to her family. For condolences, please fill out the form below.
