October 13, 1936 – October 31st, 2018 Mardel Lauretta (Johnson) Timmons, 82, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Born October 13, 1936 to Lynn and Bernice Johnson in Jarbalo, Kansas. Mardel was a devoted stay at home mom who was very involved in her children’s activities. She was an outstanding Campfire Girls leader, PTA president, Booster Club president and attended all her children’s many athletic events. Mardel was a remarkable pastor’s wife, willingly following her husband to pastorships in Clearwater KS., Beatrice and North Platte where she taught many Sunday School classes, Bible studies and hosted Women’s Fellowships throughout the years. She was a dedicated volunteer at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln for 8 years. She attended Phillips University where she received her BFA. Mardel first met her husband, Garry Timmons in 5th grade Sunday School. They were united in marriage on August 25th, 1957 and enjoyed 61 wonderful years of marriage. Mardel was preceded in death by her son-in-law; Kenneth M. Clark, her brother Garold and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Garry Timmons of Lincoln, sons Kyle (Amy) Timmons of Gilbert AZ, Noel (Sue) Timmons of Lincoln, Chan (Jenny ) Timmons of Littleton CO; daughter Lennea (Jay) Truesdell of Bremen OH ; 11 grandchildren, Jake, Haley, Sydney, Samantha, Nick, Lauren, Taylor, Zane, Bailey, Carson and Mia; sisters Mona Poteet and Velda Boelts and many nieces, nephews and friends. Celebration of Life was held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3rd in the chapel at Plymouth Congregational Church, 20th and “D” St., Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Legacy Employee Appreciation Fund, Lincoln Parks and Recreation Trails System and the Lincoln Friendship Home. Cremation arrangements have been made with private burial at a later date.

February 2, 1970 ~ October 27, 2018 Kate, daughter of Ann and Vernon Williams, sister of Eric, sister-in-law of Janie, and aunt of Elle, Finn, Jessica, and Adrienne passed from this life on 10/27/18 with friends and family to see her on her journey. She lived a full life, complete and joyful. She touched many lives. And now she moves to the larger universe of which we all are part. Willajean (Mansfield) Watson, 92, of Ashland, passed away on October 27, 2018. Born December 30, 1925, in Lincoln, to Ethel Ferne and George Earl Mansfield. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1943. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1943 and earned a teaching certificate and taught at District #82 of Cass County for 3 years. In 1946 she moved to California where she worked for various companies as a bookkeeper. In 1949 she returned to Nebraska where she worked at General Motors Corporation in Lincoln until 1952. She then worked at Laune Chevrolet Co. in Ashland until she married Lyndall Watson on December 14, 1952 in the Ashland Methodist Church. She spent the next years as a loving wife and mother. In 1975 she worked as a part-time bookkeeper at Jerry’s Tire Service in Ashland where she remained until 1998. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, Saddle Club, Grange, avid Husker fan, and was a Methodist Church treasurer. She is survived by her husband Lyndall, sons Richard (Cathy) Watson, Jack (Carolyn) Watson, Bryan (Valerie) Watson, grandchildren Laurie (Tony) Robertson, Lindsey Watson, Aaron (Audrey) Watson, Adam Watson, and step-grandchild Michael Jensen, great grandchildren Mallory and Nolan Robertson, and step-great grandchild Jareth Jensen, brother Sam (Jean) Mansfield, sister-in-law Elizabeth Mansfield and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother George “Jeff” Mansfield. Graveside services were held at the Ashland Cemetery (30th and Silver Street) on Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. Celebration of life followed at the Ashland United Methodist Church, 1442 Adams.

June 25, 1934 – October 23, 2018 Charlotte I. Smith of Lincoln, was born to Charles E. and Daisy M. Hatcliff in Newhawka, Nebraska. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 and married Jesse L. Smith on December 20, 1952. Charlotte enjoyed her employment at Citizen’s State Bank for 23 years taking considerable pride working for a great local institution and alongside many good friends. She enjoyed volunteering at elementary schools assisting students to become proficient readers. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers C. Eldon Hatcliff and David E. Hatcliff and a granddaughter, Christina Lewis. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jesse L. Smith; and four daughters, Paula (David) Little of Rusk, Texas; Gail (David) Lewis of Village of Lakewood, Illinois; Terri (Ted, deceased) Armfield of Cullowhee, North Carolina; and Pamela (William) Samuelson of Lake Forest, California; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sister Helen E. Scott, and many loving nieces and nephews. Special appreciation is given to the compassionate staff of Independence House at Northview and the staff of AseraCare Hospice of Lincoln for the care and concern given to Charlotte and her family.
