Clarence August Patzloff

featured image

Clarence was unfortunately taken to soon on 07/10/19 in a head on collision at age 57. He was driving the vehicle with his mother Janice, whom also was taken. While details are still unknown, it is with great sadness the family not only lost one but two staples of greatness.

Clarence was born September 15th, 1961 to Janice and Clem in Lincoln, Ne. Clarence moved around some as a child but eventually planted his roots in Lincoln where he raised his daughter Jamie and granddaughter Chloe. He recently had moved to Milligan to help his mom Jan take care of the property she owned. In the recent months he was so excited with the progress of the house and his rat rod project.

Clarence spent his days making someone’s trash his treasure. He was able to see the potential of all things around him. He admired the beauty in the world and always found the time to enjoy the small things. He spent a lot of his free time with his Princess, Chloe. Their bond was unbreakable.

Clarence believed anything that made him happy was worth enduring, even if only for a minute. He lived in the moment and never took his time with the ones he loved for granted. The unfortunate loss of a remarkable man has impacted the lives of many. It was very unlikely you’d see him without a happy go lucky smile on his face. He’d light up a room just by entering it.

Clarence is survived by his daughter Jamie Patzloff, grand daughter Chloe and significant other Kim Turek. Siblings Connie Lewis(Scott); Jim Wilson, Bob Wilson and Ed Silva.

The family asks that you join them for a fundraiser on Saturday August 3rd, 2019 at Pub bar behind Burger King on 48th and Holdrege from 1-4pm. There will also be a Celebration of Life on August 4th, 2019 in the Auld Pavilion at Antelope Park in Lincoln starting at 10am. Breakfast will be served. If you are unable to attend the fundraising event but would like to make a donation you can make it out to the Memorial of Clarence Patzloff. These are not formalwear events. You can reach out to Jamie at jpatzloff@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Janice Fern Silva

Janice Fern (Kunz) Silva, 85, of Milligan, NE, was lost Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in a car accident along with her son Clarence “Snooks” Patzloff. Janice was born February 27, 1934 in Elmwood, NE, to Della (Hartsock) and Earl Kunz. She was blessed with 5 children, and dozens of grandchildren.

Jan was a mischievous spitfire known for her outrageous laugh, playful spirit, and fierce negotiating skills. She loved fixing up her huge 100-year-old house and was a generous and giving soul, providing shelter for those who needed it. She lived for her family and her dogs and talked to her lifelong friend and sisters Shirley and Sandy practically every day.

Jan retired from Northrop Grummon where she was a Project Manager on the first B-2 Spirit, also known as the Stealth Bomber. She had a keen mind and was instrumental in its development, working closely with the design engineers to make sure this new plane could fly. The day that she stood on the tarmac and watched the experimental plane take flight for the first time was the proudest moment of her professional career.

The week before her passing, Jan was the recipient of a new pacemaker. This gave her more energy than she’d had in years and she was excited for the future. Her son Bob exclaimed that they finally had their Mom back. Sadly, it wasn’t to be as she and her son Clarence were gone from this world in an instant, leaving shock, disbelief, and deep grief in their wake.

Jan is survived by her children, Jim Wilson, Connie (Scott) Lewis, Bob Wilson, and Ed Silva; siblings Irene (Perry) King, Shirley Wait, Carol Johnson, Earl (Toni) Kunz, and Sandy Estes; dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death her parents and sister Loretta Pedersen.

There is a fundraiser being held at The Pub in Lincoln on Saturday, August 3rd from 1pm-4pm. The Celebration of Life will be held at the Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park in Lincoln on Sunday, August 4th from 10am-2pm.

Post condolences below.

Sandra “Sassy” Jean Babcock

After a courageous fight, lasting almost two years against glioblastoma, Sandra passed away surrounded by family on July 13, 2019.

Sandra was born on January 8, 1962 in Toronto to Don and Dorothy Killin. At the age of 19, she came to the University of Nebraska Lincoln on a swimming scholarship. She met her husband Mike shortly after and they were married in 1984, starting a family together three years later.

She was a stay-at-home mother for three wild boys up until they entered middle school. Then, she found her true calling as a Special Education Teacher. Sandra earned her Masters in Special Education and became a teacher at Lincoln Southeast High School in 2003, where she taught until her diagnosis in 2017. In her incredible career, she was Department Chair of Special Education and was recognized as an outstanding educator in 2016.

Her students became family; at the drop of a hat, she would do anything for them. She pushed to implement inclusion for Special Education students in athletics. With her background as a swimmer and coach, she could train her students to join the Southeast swim and track teams—all becoming possible with the great support from Southeast High School. In 2019, she received the Track and Field Community Service Award, in recognition of her exceptional record of service to interscholastic athletics in Nebraska.

Sandra is survived by her father Don, sister Kathy, brothers Charlie and Greg, husband Michael, three boys Donny, Robbie, Tommy,  daughter Sonja, and her dog Larry. Her mother Dorothy preceded her in death.

As per her wishes, there will be a small, private memorial and spreading of her ashes in Canada. There will be no other services held. In lieu of flowers or cards, please make a donation in Sandra’s name to the Special Olympics.

Dedicated, Fearless, Fun
