Delbert Stotz

Delbert Stotz passed away in December after reaching the age of 96 years old. He was brought to Lincoln to spend his last years with family.  Delbert was born to John C. Stotz and Christina (Dollinger) in Tolstoy, SD and married Ruth C.(Dufloth) in 1945.  His family roots from Germany, brought them to the wide open prairie land in the South Dakota where he lived his life as a hard working farmer, tilling the soil and taking care of the family farms.

He was aspiring, thrifty, hospitable and industrious. Throughout his life the family lived in Chicago, IL for a while and he worked at Harris Pine Mill and Alice Chalmers. They moved to Gettysburg, SD where he had his own electrical business.  He worked as a guard at Nebraska State Penitentiary during winters.  Delbert retired from the Redfield State Hospital and spent the rest of his life working the family farms and his electrical business well into his 80’s.

He was a good friend to all and loved sitting at the local cafe’s of Redfield, Tolstoy and Wolsey to see who was there to have dinner and pie daily.

He is survived by his 5 children; Ron and Nancy Stotz, CA, Donna Bowes, NE, Roberta (Birdie) Hunter, NE, Doug and Linda Stotz, CO, Deb and Jeff Reese, TX, 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

The years have quickly come and gone.  All we have left now are the memories that are tucked away in the hearts of those who can remember.

GOTT SEI MIT EUCH!

God be with you!

February 19, 1951- December 27, 2020

Connie was born in Fairbury, NE and grew up in the small town of Western, NE with her mother, father and three younger brothers and moved to Lincoln in the early 1960’s.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Heim Dallmann and father, Leslie Dallmann.

Survived by: Three younger brothers, Jerry (and Christy), Dan (and Cindy), and John (and Gala) Dallmann, two daughters, Angie Bornschlegl (and Garth), Misty Vandergriend (and Chad) and 9 grandchildren (Grace Trexel (and Josh), Doriahn, Boaz, Malachi, Obadiah, Kolia and Judah Bornschlegl and Asher and River Vandergriend, numerous nieces and nephews and other dear family members.

Connie graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty School and was a hair dresser for many years. She then had various office/secretary jobs as she raised two daughters.

Connie gave her life to Christ in 1985 and her commitment to being a Christian has always been evident.

She had various health conditions for many years including battling cancer three times. She went to meet Jesus peacefully while in hospice care at the Monarch with her two daughters and brother by her side.

We will certainly miss her saying things like “Oh my stars” and “Bless your heart”.  We will always be reminded of her when we see the color purple.

She loved all nine of her grandkids so very much and looked forward to the times she got to spend with them. She also loved Nebraska Football and was a die-hard committed fan her entire life. She wouldn’t miss a game and couldn’t believe when people would try and get her to do something that was during a Husker football game.

We will remember her having such a kind heart and always trying to help people even when she needed help herself. We will dearly miss her serving heart and loving spirit.

Celebration of Life: Lincoln Berean Church, Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
