Jeffery L, Herrington, Sr. (Big Daddy)

Jeffery L Herrington, Sr. (Big Daddy) passed away December 21, 2020 peacefully at home in Lincoln after long battle with lung issues, non-covid related.

Jeff was born in Lincoln to Ronald and Patty (Shaw) Herrington, was a Belmont Boy at heart, and never forgot where he came from. He loved college football and had the hat collection to prove it. He also loved NASCAR and dirt track late model racing and was able to travel to different tracks around the country. He was also a great vacation planner and loved a good road trip to nowhere in particular with good music, family and friends to keep him company. He retired from Goodyear in 2007 after 30 years of service.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 27 years Tammie; son Jeff Herrington, Jr (JJ); and father Ron Herrington; brother and sisters Rick (Ellyn) Herrington, Jackie (Bob) Furasek, and Penny Herrington; in-laws Cheryl and Howard Harms, sister-in-law and spouse, Cindy and Martin Brandt, brothers-in-law and spouses Kent (Carol) Harms and James (Sandy) Harms; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Preceded in death by mother Patty Herrington and grandparents.

Celebration of life to be held in the spring, hopefully close to Jeff’s birthday.

Richard Louis Thornton

Richard Louis Thornton of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on December 16, 2020. He was born on July 16, 1951 in Bay City, Michigan. 

He married his best friend Wanda Gamble on February 2, 1973 in Jacksonville, Florida.

He worked as a master carpenter for 50 years. He took a lot of pride in teaching and sharing his skills.

He is survived by wife Wanda Thornton; daughter, Rebecca Copley; grandchildren Brittany, Ashely, Hannah, and Anthony Copley. Mr. Thornton also is survived by several of his nephews and nieces,

He will be deeply missed.

Deanna “Nan” Vrana-Carlsward was born January 22nd 1969 and departed this earthly home on December 15th 2020 in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 51.

Deanna was born on January 22nd 1969 in Aurora Illinois to Dale Vrana and Margaret “Peggy” (Tuttle) Vrana. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1987.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Rick Combs; sons Aaron (Sammy), Zack (Kayla) and Dean; daughter Ashley; father Dale; mother Peggy; brothers Dale Robert (DeEtta) Vrana and Josh Vrana; sisters Valerie (Robert) Phillips, Lauri (Chuck) Addams, Shelley (Jay) Grantski, Kathy Adams, Mari Hoyt; grandchildren which she loved dearly, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Barbara (Carson) Elder

August 18, 1924 – December 11, 2020

Preceded in death by husband John T. Elder, parents James and Meta Carson, sisters Muriel Barns and Mary Beth Carson. Survived by son Bruce Elder (Lisa) of North Andover, MA, Janet Kettler (Richard) of Lincoln, NE, granddaughters Carson, Juliette and Chloe Elder, Madeline and Isabel Kettler, nieces and nephews.

Barbara was born in Wessington Springs, SD and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1942. She then graduated nursing school at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL. She worked as a surgical nurse at hospitals in Rapid City, SD and Seattle, WA. After her marriage Barbara moved to Omaha and finished her career as a nurse for Omaha Public Schools.

No services per Barbara’s request.
