Jesse Lee Smith

Jesse Lee Smith of Lincoln, was born to Lines V. and Louisa Fern (Knox) Smith in Cope, Colorado. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Nebraska. Jesse proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1949 through 1952 and married Charlotte I. Hatcliff on December 20, 1952. He retired from the Nebraska Department of Labor as a liaison for the Governor’s Private Industry Council.

Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte I. Smith; father, Lines V. Smith; mother, Louisa Fern Smith; sister, Constance Gake; brother, Jean Paul Smith; and a granddaughter, Christina Lewis. He is survived by four daughters, Paula (David) Little of Rusk, Texas; Gail (David) Lewis of Village of Lakewood, Illinois; Terri (Ted, deceased) Armfield of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Pamela (William) Samuelson of Lake Forest, California; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and loving nieces Melanie Smith and Kimberly Smith.

Special appreciation is offered to the compassionate staff of The Legacy Terrace, CHI Health at Home Hospice, and for the care and concern given to Jesse and Charlotte’s family.
