DorothyLue Phobie Flackman

Dorothy L. Flackman, 84, of Lincoln, passed away August 5, 2022, after battling Alzheimers and having a stroke. She was born April 23, 1938 in Lincoln to Oscar and LueEmma (Lovelace) Hiskey. She was married May 1, 1954 to Thomas L. Flackman. Dorothy retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber.

She is survived by daughter, Pamala (Russ) Henning of Murray, daughter, Peggy Thornton of Lincoln, and son, Michael (Lynda) Flackman of Lincoln: grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly, TJ, and Caitlin: and eleven great-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers.

Cremation, no visitation. Private interment: Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to your choice.

Dennis Dean Alfrey

Born on February 2, 1952.

Passed away on August 2, 2022.

Dennis was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 of heart disease.

Dennis attended Bancroft Elementary, for gifted children on UNL campus. He attended University High before transferring to Lincoln High from which he graduated in 1971.  He studied art, drawing, & photography at UNL & Kansas City Art Institute.  He graduated from KCAI in 1981 with a degree in photography.

Besides working as a freelance photographer in Chicago, and in Kansas City, Dennis worked as the last elevator operator at Old City Hall in Lincoln,worked at Stovers Candy, he also worked for Lancaster Office of Mental Retardation (LOMR), Lancaster Manor, and retired from Molex.

Dennis maintained his love of photography as well as enjoying a wide variety of music. But no band could top The Rolling Stones!  At various times he enjoyed mountain biking, camping, kites and of course he loved chocolate! Dennis was a long time member of St Mark’s Episcopal Church on Campus, where he had many friends.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Harry V. Alfrey and his beloved yellow lab, Beau. He is survived by his mother, Helen Alfrey of Lincoln, Aunt Adela & Uncle Bob of Colorado, several cousins and his nephew, Brian Gerkensmeyer.

A prayer service was held Wednesday 8/10 at 7:30 pm at the Waverly Community Foundation: 11120 N 141st St. Waverly, NE.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday September 16, 2022 from 5:00-9:00 at the Wyuka Stables: 3600 O St., Lincoln, NE 68510. Dennis’s favorite pizza will be served, please come and join in sharing a memory you have of Dennis.

A private family inurnment will take place at the Wyuka Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Pershing Mural Historic Preservation.

Laura Hyland Weymouth

Laura H. Weymouth (96) died early Sunday morning, July 31, 2022.

Laura was born at home in Grape Grove, Green County, Ohio, to Goldie (Cox) and James Hyland on October 2, 1925. She received her undergraduate degree from a small college in Ohio, then secured a graduate degree in Library Science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The citizens of Lincoln, Nebraska benefitted for over three decades from Laura’s expansive knowledge of history, science, geography, and the arts while she worked as a book buyer for the Lincoln City Libraries. Members of her family and circle of friends benefitted from her expansive vocabulary and the way she used the English language.

Books served as both her vocation and avocation, but she also painted and was active in the local art world, serving on the board of the Lincoln Artists’ Guild.

Laura was preceded in death by her spouses John W. Weymouth and Edgar Pearlstein, and by her children Tory and Lenny Pearlstein. She is survived by her sister Marilyn; her stepchildren Terry (Jacki Cohen); Evelyn; and Dan (Deborah Little), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Laura lived for the past 13 years at Legacy Estates in Lincoln where she and John made a comfortable retirement home after leaving their home on Meadowbrook Lane. The family thanks the many employees and staff members there, particularly those in Assisted Living where Laura spent the last four months of her life.

Laura’s cremains will be interred in the columbarium at the Unitarian Church in Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln City Libraries, the Lincoln Artists’ Guild, the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, or to a favorite organization of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, 6300 A Street, Lincoln NE 68510.

Doris Jean Jacobmeier

Doris Jean Jacobmeier was born August 24, 1928 in East Bernard, Texas to Lee Rabb and Mary Philips. She had six children Bill (Erlinda), Bob (Sandi), Susan, Sandy (Brad), Stacy(Terry) and Jon(Denise). Doris was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents Mary and Lee Philips, her husband Vern, William Hammond (son), Susan Lynn (daughter), Anastasia Hammond Adair (granddaughter), Andrew (AJ) Ciechomski (grandson), and sisters Darlene Carter, Eileen Philips, and Phyllis Coleman.

Doris loved to dance and was a member of the Shim Shams. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, quilting, genealogy, and spending time with family.
