Shane Ezekiel Perkins
Shane Perkins, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, died unexpectedly on January 25. He was born September 15, 1976, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Marlene Poch Perkins and Sheppard Perkins. Shane graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1995, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2000, and the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2004. He worked in Washington D.C., Hastings, and Lincoln, lived in London, and readily made friends along the way with his broad smile, infectious laugh, and caring spirit.
Shane loved travel, books, word games, good conversation, good coffee, telling stories, and spent hours playing Scrabble with family and friends and to benefit Lincoln Literacy. He grew up in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with a tight knit constellation of families and friends, enjoying youth group and school activities together, singing tenor, and ringing bells until shortly before his death.
A few paragraphs cannot capture the brilliance of Shane’s spirit and wit or the depth with which he’ll be missed. Shane is survived by his mother, his sister, Malia Pope, his brother-in-law, Derek, and his nieces Elsa and Anna, whom he loved dearly. Shane was preceded in death by his father. Heaven is filled tonight with impassioned debates between the two and triple word scores.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4 pm on February 2nd at Holy Trinity in Lincoln. City COVID regulations will be followed with masks required and social distancing observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church or donor’s choice.
