Nancy J. Kapke
Nancy J. Kapke of Lincoln, born March 25 1952, passed away July 13, 2024, after a long tough battle with ovarian cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home, with family by her side. Nancy was the definition of being selfless. She had so much love to give and never expected or wanted anything in return. Nancy is remembered for many things starting with the exceptionally kind hearted (saint-like) characteristics she embraced; being able to care for multiple generations of children and families during the 46 years she provided daycare in her home. That was her calling. She loved and adored every child she ever cared for. She has touched countless lives in so many different and positive ways. Being a safe and caring person to trust your children with while you work, answering phone calls in the middle of the night to bail someone out of trouble, or being an ear to talk to. She took you in if you needed a place to call home- kids, adults, even animals. She was also known for her open-door policy. So many people knew Nancy’s warm smile, the lady on the porch who would always wave as you drove by. The house on the corner that became a hub of it’s own, because Nancy made it that way. Nancy is survived by her daughter Michelle McKay (Adam Hubert), step-daughter Sherri Oaks (James), step-son Doug Kapke Jr., Grandkids Bridgette Foerster (Mike), Brooklyn Hubert, AJ Oaks (Haley), Steffen Oaks, Victoria Soller (Cory), Aaron Kapke, Alex Kapke, Drake Kapke, Brothers Leon Overy and Ron Overy, and 8 great grandkids. She is preceeded in death by her husband Doug Kapke Sr, her parents Kerwyn Overy and Edna Ptacek, and great granddaughter Coralee Foerster. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 11th at Roca Ridge Events from 1-5. Nancy’s family would like to sincerely thank every person who sent their condolences and well wishes our way. The love and support we’ve felt for Nancy is remarkable and not something that we will ever forget. Please join us to continue that love while we celebrate her life. Danise E. Krueger
Danise Ellen Krueger (Stockbarger), Lincoln, NE, aged 75, she was surrounded by her children as she left this world on March 17, 2024. Danise was born November 12, 1948 in Oak Park, IL. She called many places her home throughout life, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Kansas and Nebraska. She attended University of Illinois (Go Illini!) and received her master’s in nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Danise was a mother, a grandma/mimi, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend. She was an amazing mental health nurse for many, many years. She touched the lives of countless patients, showing kindness and compassion. Danise loved to laugh and she loved her people fiercely. She experienced joy through the small things- a cold Coca-Cola, Kansas City BBQ, a new book from Barnes and Noble, a shopping trip to Nordstrom, being by a lake and enjoying a steak dinner. But what brought her the most joy were her 3 kids and 12 grandkids. To her they were the best, and she loved them with every ounce of her being. Danise is survived by her 3 children, Kris Krueger (Allison), Katie Cannon (John) and Kelly Watson (Todd); 12 grandchildren, Dylan, Beckett and Rowan Krueger, Danny, Jimmy, Molly and Tommy Cannon, Brady, David, Katie, Avery and Evey Watson; and sister, Sally DeLiberato (Nick).
