Raymond Roger (Ray) Kuhns, 83, Lincoln died Friday November 16, 2018 at The Monarch. He was born on a farm east of Shickley, Nebraska, (12/11/1934) to Joseph & Emma (Roth) Kuhns. He was the last sibling in the family of 11. Ray attended a country school 1 1/2 miles from the farm, then in 1953 he graduated from Shickley High School. He worked for a farmer in the summertime. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal savior & was baptized into the Mennonite Church. Ray married Gloria Schweitzer on August 21, 1955 at West Fairview Mennonite Church, Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. They spent two years in Denver, Colorado as Ray was in One W service. They moved to Aurora, Ohio & Ray worked in a cement block plant for two years then returned to Lincoln, Nebraska where their three children, Douglas, Chere & Tim were born. Ray worked for Cushman Motors for 10 years. Ray & Gloria moved to Geneva, Nebraska in 1967, where they raised their family. Ray worked at Fillmore County Hospital as ambulance driver, maintenance supervisor, and purchasing for 20 years. He was very active in Faith Mennonite Church serving as Elder, Sunday School Teacher and various projects. Ray & Gloria worked many hours at the MCC Relief Sale in Aurora, Nebraska serving breakfast and working with quilts and blankets. While in Geneva, Ray & Gloria opened their home to 13 foster children. After retirement they managed the Goldenrod Motel in Geneva, were assistant managers of various retirement facilities which took them to Omaha, California, Arkansas and back to Lincoln. Ray was a charter member of First Mennonite Church in Lincoln. He is survived by; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Monica Kuhns, Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law Chere and Michael McCarthy, Liberal, Kansas; son Tim Kuhns, Tucson, Arizona and four grandchildren, Justin Kuhns, Los Angeles, California; Lance Kuhns, Brooklyn, New York; Hilary and Tom Marnejon, Dayton, Ohio; Heidi McCarthy, Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law Dorothy Kuhns and Alma Kuhns and many nieces and nephews. Ray is proceeded in death by his wife Gloria of 53 years; his parents; brothers and sisters; Harold Kuhns, Irene Kuhns (Oswald), Elbert Kuhns, Helen Kuhns (Eichelberger), Donald Kuhns, Lois Kuhns (Saltzman), Kenneth Kuhns, Verlin Kuhns, Dean Kuhns and Joan Kuhns (Troyer). Celebration of Life was held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 3:00 pm at First Mennonite Church (7300 Holdrege), Lincoln, Ne. Casual dress/Husker attire acceptable. October 29, 1936-November 2, 2018 Leland Wayne Knobel, 82, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on November 2, 2018. Lee was born October 29, 1936 in Alexandria, Nebraska, to William and Gladys Knobel. He graduated from Fairbury High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Lee was a lifelong educator. He began his career as a teacher at Bennet High School. He was also a teacher in the newly consolidated District OR-1 school district, (Bennet-Palmyra), before beginning his administrative career as the elementary principal in Bennet. His first superintendent job was at Mullen High School in 1974. He later would become the superintendent of schools at Sterling Public Schools and Malcolm Public Schools. He enjoyed all levels of the public school system and took great pride in working with students and education colleagues. He loved all sports and everything Huskers. Upon his retirement from education you could always find him on the golf course. Lee is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sue Knobel; sons Steve(Karen)Knobel of Lincoln and Terry(Michelle) Knobel of Crestview, FL. One stepson, Brent(Dee) Carlmark; 4 grandchildren, Ashley(Cody) Vernon, Travis(Lauryn) Knobel, Shelby(Brett) Kunz and Alec Knobel; 3 step grandchildren, Brandon Carlmark, Tanya Carlmark and Shannan Carlmark and 1 great grandchild, Kingstyn Vernon. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Knobel, one son, Billy Knobel, and 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Lee requested no services upon his passing but rather a Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life was held at the Resort at Firethorn, 88th and Van Dorn on Thursday, November 8 from 1-4. The family requests all memorials to Holmes Lake Manor or CHI Hospice Care.

Richard A. Knutson (Rich, Dick, Uncle Dill) 67 years, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on June 25, 2018. Richard was born November 20, 1950 in Lincoln to Geraldine (Stiles) Knutson and Walton Knutson. Richard joined the Marines after graduating from Lincoln High School. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War,(1968/1970) . After returning home he worked for Goodyear for 33 years, Also serving as chief Stewart for the union for years. Evelyn Marie Kimminau (Skalka), 88, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at Holmes Lake Manor. Evelyn was born August 3, 1929, in Spring Ranch, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Emil and Caroline Skalka. Evelyn was a kind-hearted woman; loving, supportive wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed baking, playing the accordion, dancing, needlepointing, and babysitting her grandchildren. She was an active member of the South Central Czech Society in Hastings, the Altar Society of North American Martyrs and Capital City Czech Choraliers in Lincoln. She was the love of her late husband, Leo, of 65 years. She is survived by their children: Gary Kimminau and his wife Beth of Lincoln, NE, Carolyn Romohr and husband Monte of Gresham, NE, Donald Kimminau of Tampa, FL and Kathy Higgins and husband Jim of O’Fallon, MO; 6 grandchildren: Erica Romohr of Omaha, NE, Philip Romohr of Apex, NC, Tracy Barkmeier of Lincoln, NE, Tara Kimminau of Lincoln, NE, and Lucas and Lauren Higgins of O’Fallon, MO; 3 great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Nathan, and Lizzy Romohr of Apex, NC. Leo William Kimminau, 94, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away Sunday April 29, 2018 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska. Leo was born August 16, 1923, in Cunningham, Kansas. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kimminau. Leo served in the United States Army and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the heating and air conditioning business in Hastings, Nebraska for many years. He was a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; their children: Gary Kimminau and his wife Beth of Lincoln, NE, Carolyn Romohr and husband Monte of Gresham, NE, Donald Kimminau of Tampa, FL and Kathy Higgins and husband Jim of O’Fallon, MO; 6 grandchildren: Erica Romohr of Omaha, NE, Philip Romohr of Apex, NC, Tracy Barkmeier of Lincoln, NE, Tara Kimminau of Lincoln, NE, and Lucas and Lauren Higgins of O’Fallon, MO; 3 great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Nathan, and Lizzy Romohr of Apex, NC.
