She is survived by husband Alfred John Schroder, sons Bartt (Sue) Schroder of Dewitt, Nebraska, Brett (Debra) Schroder of Hastings, Nebraska and Daughter Amy (Arlan) Kettelhake of Larned Kansas. Grandchildren: Jason (Katie) Schroder, Janae Schroder, Ethan Schroder, Wyatt Schroder, and Carson (Courtney) Kettelhake. Great Grandchildren: Noah, Maddie, Ben. Sister, Karen Soukup of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sister in Law, Marlene Schroder of Palmyra, Nebraska, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, In-laws John & Elda Schroder & brother in-law Arnold Schroder. Sonia Ann Seehafer
1938-2021 Sonia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On Sunday May 2, 2021 she passed away surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Everett and Virgina Balthazor on March 21, 1938. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1956. To this day she remained in close contact with her classmates. Sonia was married to Mervin Seehafer January 29, 1957. Together they had 2 children, Mary and Paul. After they were married they ran the Seehafer Cafe in Hunter, KS. Then they moved to Beloit, KS where she worked at the Beloit Youth Center for Girls. While working there she earned her Dietary Mangers Certificate. After both her children were grown and married, Sonia and her husband moved to Salina, KS to be closer to her family. She loved baking and making delicious goodies for her family. Her kitchen was always full of homemade cinnamon rolls, lemon bars and of course her famous Bierox’s. You never went hungry at grandma house. Sonia was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, brother Steve Balthazor and son Paul Seehafer- wife Tammy resides in Kansas City, KS. She is survived by her sister Gayle (Randy) Halfide; brothers Roland (Susie) and Gary (Marilyn) Balthazor; daughter Mary Southworth; 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and loved all her nieces and nephews dearly. Funeral will be with Robert Funeral Home at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit, KS May 13. A Rosary will be at 9am followed by a mass at 10 am. Burial will take place at Round Spring near Hunter, KS. In lieu of flowers send donations to: The Sisters of St. Joseph. PO Box 279 Concordia, KS 66901.
