June Darlene Harkins

June D. Harkins was born June 13, 1933 and passed away May 3, 2020 at the age of 86 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The daughter of Carl and Leone Stone, June was born and raised in St. Francis, Kansas where she met and married Darrel (Doc) Harkins and went on to have three sons. They spent time in St. Francis and Goodland Kansas as well as Ogallala, Nebraska, Wray, Colorado, Wood River, Nebraska and finally Lincoln, Nebraska. June raised her sons, helped on the farm, and was involved in Eastern Star.

June is survived by her sons Danny (Cyndy) Lincoln, NE; Bobby (Mary), Goodland, KS, John (Marcia), Goodland, KS, and her brother Don Stone, Amarillo, TX, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Darrel (Doc), brother Bruce Stone, and sister Cheryl Sapp.

No services – cremation.

Memorials to the Capital Humane Society or the Cat House.

Phyllis Marie (Griffith) Hemenway

Phyllis Hemenway passed away on May 4, 2020, in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Phyllis was born August 4, 1928, in rural Antelope County, Nebraska, the youngest of seven children of Dora Damme Griffith.  Around 1935 she moved to Clearwater, graduating from Clearwater High School in the class of 1946.  In May 1946 she married Lorraine Hemenway, also of Clearwater.  From this union came three boys; Jack, Gary, and Ron.  Phyllis and Lorraine moved back to Clearwater in 1982 and remained there until Lorraine’s passing in 2011.  In 2014 she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to be closer to her family.

She is survived by sons Jack (Glenda) of Lincoln, Gary (Gail) of Olathe, Kansas, and Ron (Suzie) of Lincoln, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband Lorraine, her parents, and siblings.

Cremation, no viewing.  Inurnment at Clearwater cemetery at a later date.  Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Diane Renee Wells

Diane R. Wells passed away on April 30, 2020 in Lincoln, NE.

She is survived by her daughter Michaela Wells of Lincoln and brother Scott Wells of Boone, IA.

Diane was born February 9, 1955 to LaVerne “Bud” and Bonnie (Siddall) Wells in North Platte, NE. She graduated from Boone High School, Boone, IA in 1973, going on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College, Wayne NE in 1976 and a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1989. Following her graduation, she worked in radio. She then began a 30-plus year career at the Nebraska Library Commission, first in the Talking Book and Braille Services and then in Information Technology. She retired in 2019.

Just out of college, Diane married Jim Greenlee in Wayne, NE. They divorced in the mid-1990s. Later that decade she had a significant relationship with Jeremy Hickenbottom, that gave her the pride and joy of her life, their daughter Michaela. In 2006, she married Paul Glaspie. They divorced in 2011.

Diane had a wonderful ability to focus on the positive aspects of life and find the good in people. She had a drive to encourage people to make their lives better, always willing to lend a helping hand and an empathetic ear to both friends and strangers alike.

Diane was blessed to have a wide variety of friends. She valued each one for the unique gifts they brought to her life. She cherished them, as they cherished her. Although saddened by her passing, her family and friends take great delight and comfort from having shared her life.

Diane’s body has been cremated, but her joyous spirit lives on in all that were fortunate to have known her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

As Diane would have wanted, memorial contributions should be made to causes that help people.

John Michael Carr

July 10, 1969 – April 30, 2020

John M. Carr passed away at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 30, 2020.  John was born on July 10, 1969 to Richard and Dixie Carr.  He was a graduate of Wentworth Military School and attended Doane University.  John enjoyed working on the family farm at Eagle, Nebraska as well as working at Goodyear Industries for 26 years.

John is survived by his mother Dixie L. Carr; brother Joe  M. (Ingrid) Carr of Lincoln, Richard W. Carr of Eagle.  He is preceded in death by his father Richard E. Carr.

Our prayers, thoughts and memories will always be with you John.

Born April 5, 1955 in Lincoln to Merlin and Gertrude (VanDuren) Dana.

Enjoyed working a variety of jobs including BNSF Railroad, Arrow Stripping and Dish.

Survived by his siblings Jeanette Buskirk and Greg Dana.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Passed away on April 29, 2020.
