Linda Marie Hoyt
Lincoln resident Linda M. Hoyt, 72, passed away at home on October 22, 2020. Linda was born August 5, 1948 at Mable Minnesota to Claude & Irene (Bacon) Anderson. Linda earned a BA from Mankato State University prior to completing a nursing diploma from Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln Nebraska. She worked as a RN at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln and in McFarland Clinic in Ames, Iowa. She graduated with an MA in Sociology in 1991 from Iowa State University and left nursing to assume a position as director of a research unit at the Institute for Social and Behavioral Research. Linda moved back to Lincoln in 2001 and worked as a data manager on research projects at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln until her retirement in 2013. Linda found particular joy in spending time with her friends and her beloved dogs. Her cairn terriers, Henry and George, made her final twelve years much more enjoyable with their constant affection and companionship. She always enjoyed a glass of wine with friends, her next crochet project, and beating Dan at cribbage. Linda was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her life partner, Dan, her brother and sister in-law, Greg and Jean Anderson, Duluth MN, and brother in-law and spouse, Chuck and Susan Hoyt, Story City, IA., step daughter and spouse, Shari and Jeff Aguilar, Lacey WA. But, Linda’s affection and caring was not constrained by those tied to her through blood relation or marriage. Maggie Conrad, Ankeny IA, Joseph Conrad and spouse Renee, Dumfries, VA, Sydney Conrad-Cook and spouse Chris, Winterset, IA, and Blaine Conrad, Ankeny, IA, have been a central part of Linda’s “family” for decades. Rather than a celebration of life gathering, it is suggested that friends and family open a nice bottle of wine and, while enjoying it, recall how Linda touched their lives. In the spirit of Linda’s caring for others we request that, in lieu of flowers or memorials, that you consider making a donation to your local food bank or homeless shelter. Danny Milton Cade
Danny Milton Cade, 70, of Lincoln, went to be with our Savior on October 17, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30am, Friday, November 13, at Lincoln Berean Church, followed by a classic car/motorcycle procession (weather permitting) to The Shrine Center for a luncheon. Danny was born in Maryville, MO on November 6, 1949. He spent his childhood years in Clarinda, IA before moving to Grand Island, NE when he was 15, later graduating from Grand Island Senior High. On May 20, 1972, Dan married his best friend, Pam Jensen. The two met when Pam worked as a medical assistant and took x-rays of Dan’s back. Pam and Dan had two children, Jana and Chad. Jana married Craig Volzke and they had two daughters, Hadley and Bailee. Chad married Dawn Kieborz and they had a son, Kason and a daughter, MaKynlie. Aside from the love of his family, Dan’s passion in life was the roar of an engine. His younger years were spent working alongside his dad at Roy Evans Chrysler Plymouth Dealership. This led to the building of late model race car chassis for Clayton Peterson Racing Products. “Big Dan the Used Car Man” also sold cars for Diers Motor Co. before opening Countryside Auto and Body Shop. He eventually moved to Lincoln, NE where he spent his days at car auctions wholesaling vehicles for his brother and their late dad. His other interests include spending summer weekends at the dirt track, with Pam by his side, watching their favorite drivers. “King Man”, was an avid fastpitch softball player for many years. He passed his softball wisdom onto both of his children, even coaching Jana’s team for a number of years. When he wasn’t at the track or on the field, he was enjoying the freedom of the road on his Harley. “Nokee” was a member of the Sesostris Shrine Iron Nobles and Gun Club, and a member of the Rough Riders Motorcycle Club. The strong camaraderie he gained from his fellow members turned into a fierce brotherhood. Other activities Dan enjoyed were fishing, bowling, shooting pool and golf. Nothing could ever compare to the time he spent with his four grandchildren and attending their assorted activities. When Dan walked into a room you were drawn to his stories and his genuine heart. He had an uncanny ability to make connections with people and become instant friends. Danny was whitty and full of one liners. He loved shenanigans, being ornery and making others laugh. Dan is deeply missed and survived by his wife, Pam, their two children and four grandchildren, his brother, Randy Evans and family and sister, Kelly Evans and family. Dan is reunited in heaven with his parents, Roy and Deloris Evans. Celebration of Life to be held to be held Friday November 13, 2020 at 10:30am at Lincoln Berean Church; 6400 South 70th Street, Lincoln Nebraska 68512. Please use the North Entrance. Marjorie Mae Miller
Marjorie Mae (Walter) Miller was born May 13, 1927, in St. Francis, KS. She was 93-years-old when she passed into the presence of the Lord on October 8, 2020, in Lincoln, NE. Her parents were Rudolph (Roy) Albert and Sophie Clara (Raile) Walter, who made their home on the farm in St. Francis, KS., with her younger brother Glenn. Marjorie graduated from St. Francis High School. She enjoyed math, basketball, volleyball and riding her horse. She studied cosmetology in Hastings, NE, and returned to St. Francis to open her own business. On September 12, 1947, she married Robert Leland Miller also of St. Francis. They enjoyed 65 years together before his passing in 2013. She helped rear five children and fostered twin girls. As the wife of a pastor, she had many communities to call home wherever Robert was assigned, wearing many different “hats” and making many lifelong friends through the years. She was a hard worker and was known to whistle a merry tune, even at her last home, Southlake Village. Within the home, she managed household chores, sewed many clothing items, gardened, and loved animals. Outside the home, she ironed shirts for seminary students for $.25 each, cooked at a grade school, was a receptionist for an optometrist, an EMT volunteer, an aide in a care home, bookkeeper at a pharmacy and eventually operated her own in-home infant day care. For hobbies, she sewed quilts, crocheted afghans, created many craft items for church bazaars, and immensely enjoyed reading and her flower gardens. Her children remember her love of board games, vacations, and filling their home with her laughter. Her faith was very important to Marjorie. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church which later merged with the Methodist Church. She had a caring heart and was a wise counselor, forgiving, non judgmental, accepting of everyone, giving endless chances as she poured out God’s love.. She is survived by her children: Ronald Lynn Miller and wife Margaret Lynn of Little Rock, AR; Sherilynn Reynolds and husband William Keith of Mountain Home, AR; Joy Ellen Sodders and husband Daniel Richard of Lawrence, KS; Lou Ann Colborn and husband Mark Douglas of Clatonia, NE; and Jon Marc Miller and wife Teresa Lynn of Lincoln, NE; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glenn Donald Walter, her husband Robert, and her grandson Benjamin Christopher Reynolds. A private family service was held on Monday, October 12, 2020. Inurnment will be at a later date. To leave a condolence please use the form below.
