Martin Robert Butcher

Martin Robert Butcher, 64, of Lincoln, Nebraska entered eternal life on December 20, 2021, at his home.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Community Church, 6000 S. 84th St., Lincoln, NE.

Private Family Burial will be at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery.

Martin, “Marty”, was born November 16, 1957, to Ward and Naomi (Todd) Butcher in Sioux City, Iowa. Marty was the youngest of four children. He grew up and graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1976. While in high school, he excelled in wrestling, and he also boxed from Engle’s Gym. Marty knew no stranger and loved hearing stories of other people’s lives and reminiscing about his own. Marty had a beautiful singing voice and often sang at weddings, talent shows, and his parent’s gatherings. As of recent, he loved singing karaoke with his youngest daughter, Kierstyn.

In 1977, Marty enlisted in the US Air Force. He completed his basic training at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD. He was stationed in Bitburg, Germany, as an Aircraft Corrosion Specialist. While in Bitburg, he played on the base football team and traveled Europe competing against other military base teams. This was a highlight for Marty as the Bitburg Air Force team won the division championship and he enjoyed visiting the many different countries. He returned to Omaha, NE in 1983 and started Sharpe Autobody Restoration. This business led to a management position with MAACO Auto Body, and he relocated to Lincoln, NE in 1998 to manage his own franchise. Marty started working for Overhead Door Company, Lincoln, NE in 2011. He continued his employment there until August 2021 upon his illness and early retirement. Marty was blessed to have met his wife, Brenda, in 2011 and they were united in marriage in 2013. They made their home in Lincoln.

Marty had five children from previous marriages. Matt (Heidi) Hicks, Sioux City, IA; Lyndsi Cunningham, Altus, OK; Hayden Butcher, Joshua Butcher, and Kierstyn Butcher, all of Lincoln, NE, and two stepdaughters, Bailey and Riley.

He is survived by his wife, children, two sisters, Sandra Butcher, Sioux City, IA; Karen (Stuart) Nissen, Elk Point, SD; one brother, Roland (Nancy) Butcher, Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Keagan, Karsyn, Garret, Avery, and Fiona.

Marty is preceded in death by both his parents.

Memorials are suggested to his family for a later designation.

Alicia Lynne Crook

Alicia Lynne Crook, 38, passed away surrounded by family and friends in Lincoln on December 18, 2021. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She was a 2010 graduate of Doane University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Relations. She dedicated her career at Cedars Youth Services for 13 years, where she helped at risk youths. Being a caregiver and providing support to those in need were the core traits that defined Alicia as the person she was.

Alicia had a compassionate soul, and a passion for helping others. Whether it was taking care of multiple teenagers under her own roof, her blended family growing up, or the multitude of friends along the way, she always made sure she left her mark on those who had the opportunity to know her. Alicia was a fighter her whole life, overcoming adversity and challenges, and was a fighter to the end of her journey on earth.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Jeremiah, their 4 children, Tanner, Isabella, Lucas, and Jaden. She is also survived by her parents, Bob and Lynne, 4 grand parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her birth father, Matt as well as her grandparents Bob and Virginia.

Come and celebrate the life and love of Alicia Crook. The ceremony begins at 1:00pm on Wednesday December 29th in the Renaissance Room, 2nd floor of the Cornhusker Hotel, located at 333 S. 13th Street Lincoln, NE 68504. Please wear a goofy Christmas sweater and snap a photo in the photo booth! Small appetizers will be provided.

Garry Herbert Kapperman

Garry Herbert Kapperman, 67, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the CHI Health Nebraska Heart Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1954, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Garry was the son of the late Herbert and Evalena (Hinnekamp) Kapperman.

Garry was a 1973 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School. He was recently retired after working for the Nebraska Department of Roads for over 30 years.

Garry always made spending time with his children and grandchildren a top priority. He enjoyed camping with his wife, getting together with friends for Monday game nights, cooking and making new meals for his family, and was known to be a ketchup connoisseur. His love of ketchup can be seen on his grandchildren’s plates.

Garry will be remembered for his friendly personality, ability to make those around him feel welcomed, and the unconditional love he provided his family.

Garry was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Wrendy Kapperman of Eagle, Nebraska, one daughter, Nicole and Jeff Payne of Lincoln, two sons, Jarred and Kristopher (Kricket) Kapperman of Lincoln, four step-daughters, Kristy Brown of Eagle, Laura Rezabek of Omaha, Becky and Lucas Tinant of Eagle, and Callie and Jared Treat of Kearney, Nebraska. Garry was also the proud grandpa to Collin, Malcom, Tatum, Victor, Charles, Geraldine, William, and Bailey.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday January 19, 2022 @ 7 PM.
