Charles Larry Carlson

November 22, 1930- September 1, 2024

Charles Larry Carlson was born in Axtell, NE to Stanley E. and Hannah Hedstrom Carlson. He was the fourth of four children in the family. They moved to Bartley, NE when he was nine years old. He went through grade school and high school in Bartley. After high school he went to Kearney State Teachers College and graduated in 1952. He was married to Nancy Jane Pscherer on January 11, 1953 in Kearney, NE. He and Nancy were married 70 years. They had a son, Scott, and an adopted daughter, Roxanne. Grandsons Steven and Ryan are Scott’s sons and grandson Adam was Roxanne’s boy.

Larry taught at Wisner High School, Wisner, NE, for two years and then moved to Thermopolis, WY where he taught at Hot Springs County High School for ten years. There was a lot of bird hunting, golf, basketball, and raising of two children in those years. He left Wyoming to work at Central Community College in Hastings as Department Head for the next two years. He left there to work for Allen’s Self Service Drugs in Grand Island for two years. Then, he worked for twenty-two years at Southeast Community College in Lincoln where he was Department Chairman for the Business Administration Program. He retired in 1993.

What he enjoyed more than working was retirement. He looked forward to being able to golf anytime. He has been in a men’s bible study at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church since 1994. He always did feel that it was necessary to stay close to the Lord our God. His grace is enough.

Memorial services will be held on September 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Mark’s Methodist Church; 8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68520.

Memorials may be sent to St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Lincoln or the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, NE.
