Sue McMillan
Sue McMillan passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2022, at the age of 74. Sue was born Jan. 28, 1948, to Lester and Mildred (Knecht) Guenther in Beatrice. After graduating from Beatrice High School in 1966, she attended the University of Tulsa for two years. In 1969, she married Dean Spilker; they lived on a farm in DeWitt and had two children, Dena and Nate. In 1982, Sue completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After Dean’s passing in 1988, Sue continued her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then earned a Master of Education from Doane University. She was a beloved English teacher at Tri-County Public School for fifteen years before retiring. In 1994, she married Roger McMillan; they resided on the farm in DeWitt, moved to Kimberling City, Mo., in 2004, and returned to Nebraska, living in Clatonia since 2014. Sue is survived by Roger, her husband of 28 years; daughter Dena (Jeremy) Sher and their children Benjamin and Rebecca, Washington, DC; son Nate (Jennifer) Spilker and their children Dean and Henry, Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Linda Schuerman, Dewitt; three stepchildren and spouses; five step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friend Jeanne Stokebrand; and many friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 8, 2022, at 10:30 am at the First Congregational UCC Church in Crete. Linda Kay Woolsey
Linda Kay (Chaney) Woolsey, of Lincoln, formerly of Wymore, passed away at Bryan East Hospital, in Lincoln, on November 13, 2022. Linda was born October 10, 1945 to Earl and Esther (Schultz) Chaney, in Beatrice. She spent her childhood years in Wymore and graduated from Wymore High School in 1963. On September 28, 1963 she married Larry Francis Woolsey and from that union they had a son, Brian and a daughter, Tammy. During the early years of the their marriage, they resided in Lincoln and also Garland, Nebraska, before moving back to Wymore. Linda worked a the Beatrice State Developmental Center and for many years at the Good Samaritan Center in Wymore, where she was first a cook and then the Dietary Manager until her retirement. Upon retirement she moved to Lincoln, where she was closer to her children, grand-children and several friends. Her hobbies included, Elvis, cooking and baking for her family and others. There wasn’t a grocery store she couldn’t spend hours in. She also loved going to her children’s school events and when her children were grown, she had her dogs and cats along the way to take care of. She is survived by her children, Brian Woolsey(Lisa Robertson) of Lincoln, Tammy Woolsey (Todd Packett) of Marysville, Kansas; by two grandchildren, Gage Woolsey of Lincoln and Sierra Woolsey of South Daytona, Florida; by her beloved Bulldog, Wrigley Field Woolsey; by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty Jo (Woolsey) and Dale Marples, of Omaha; by a brother-in-law, Melvin Andrews of Wymore; by four nieces and one nephew. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Esther Chaney, by her husband, Larry, March 3, 1982, by her sister, Charlotte Andrews, by many pets that she has missed, NickNack, Gidget, Bogie, Max, Addi, Bailey and Napoleon the parakeet Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on December 6, 2022 at Westside Baptist Church, 448 W Court St, Beatrice, NE. Carolyn Jule Lepa
Carolyn Jule Lepa, 66 Years of age, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 in Lincoln, Nebraska. This concluded her battle with Alzheimer’s. Carolyn was born August 10, 1956 in Cresco, Iowa to Thomas and Florence Barnes. She was the youngest of three, one brother preceded her in death. Carolyn was educated in the Howard-Winneshiek Community School District in Cresco, Iowa. Carolyn married the loving Larry D. Lepa on September 2, 1982 in Lincoln, Nebraska and two children were born from this union. Carolyn devoted her life to her family and stayed home with the children while keeping busy with volunteer work until they were school age. Carolyn was then employed by LPS Food Services for nearly a decade, which allowed her to continue to focus on family. In 1999 a career with UNL Dining Services began. After eighteen years of service, she began her retirement. Carolyn loved to spend her time with family and friends. She was a friend to everyone she met and always had a smile and contagious laugh that lit up the room. You could always count on Carolyn for a hug and some kind words. She was a die-hard Husker fan who loved to cheer for her team. On football game days you would find her either at the stadium cheering or at home watching the game (with the TV muted and the radio on!). She had a love for reading, sports, trees, snowy weather, nature, and animals, especially big dogs and horses. Carolyn also enjoyed canoeing the Upper Iowa river whenever she had the chance. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and friend always thinking of everyone else. Carolyn leaves behind her faithful husband of forty years, Larry D. Lepa; her children Cari (Michael) Frerichs, Ryan Lepa; four grandchildren, Tavin, Adelie, Caiden, and Breccan; and her brother David (Laurie) Barnes. To leave a condolence please use the form below.
