Linda was born and raised in New York. In 1971, at 22 years old, Linda moved to Lincoln. Linda worked at the State House for a while and then went on to work at Lincoln General/Bryan Health where she worked for thirty nine years as a medical transcriptionist before retiring. Linda made a lot of friends throughout the city in her many decades here. Linda is survived by her sister Jackie and Jackie’s two sons Ian and Eric Lipsky and also Ian’s son Sasha and Eric’s two children Simon and Noa; also surviving is a niece Lauren who is a daughter of Norman, Linda’s older brother; and her high school sweetheart and husband A.J. Lee. Linda, an avid dog and animal lover, spent her retired years volunteering at Capital Humane Society and spending time at dog rescue. Ardell R. Lostroh, 73, of Malcolm, NE, passed away November 26, 2019. Ardell was born June 8, 1946 in Lincoln, NE to Alma (née Pieper) Lostroh and Louis H. Lostroh. He attended school in Malcolm, graduating from Malcolm High School in 1964. After serving in the Vietnam Conflict in 1967, he married Patricia LaJean Hoshor on June 20, 1969. Ardell worked for Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph and was a member of Communication Workers of America. He founded the Out on a Limb tree trimming and removal business, where he used his bucket truck, chainsaws, and tractor with a front blade to attack cedar trees. Ardell enjoyed mornings with his friends at the Malcolm General Store. He also loved John Deere tractors, lawn mowers, a double-run in the crib, and helping whoever he could. He volunteered for Food Net, an organization with the motto, “Tummy fill, not landfill.” Anyone who ever shared a Budweiser sitting on the porch with him loved his ornery sense of humor, and his generosity was appreciated by neighbors far and wide. He is survived by siblings Ardis Krahl, Arlene “Coke” Smith, Louis Lostroh, and Karna Waters; wife Pat Lostroh; children Ginger Howell and Candi Lostroh, and son-in-law Doug Howell; grandchildren Trenton, Dylan, and Hunter Howell; daughter-in-law Amanda Udis-Kessler, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Eileen Lostroh and Duran Lostroh, and brothers-in-law Bill Hoshor and Galen Loomis. Celebration of life was held on Monday, December 2 from 12-1 with lunch to follow at the Malcolm Fire Hall, 150 W 2nd St, Malcolm, NE 68402. Maxine Lucile Laschanzky, 85, passed away on November 8th, 2019 in Lincoln, NE. Maxine was born February 3, 1934 to Ralph and Olive Schoch outside of Grafton, Nebraska and raised on a farm there. She went to high school at Grafton High School and was a cheerleader. She also raised her own calves for 4-H and loved playing the piano and playing cards with friends. She was most known for cutting coupons and going to stores to get the best deals where she also enjoyed talking to people and they all knew her by name. She worked at Hinky Dinky as a meat wrapper and at Sysco. She loved to remodel homes and had rental properties. She was passionate about spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to McDonald’s with Norma and other friends for breakfast. She enjoyed baking, especially banana bread with no nuts, peanut butter cookies, and any other special requests. Maxine made sure to be a great friend to everyone and do anything for them. She was also passionate about watching the Nebraska Volleyball team play on TV. Maxine is survived by her children Larry Laschanzky, Lincoln, Connie Lahm, Denton, grandkids Amber (Aaron) Buell and daughter Tori – Wahoo, Loren (Kim) Laschankzy, and son Peyton – Lincoln, Klinton Laschanzky, and daughter Hayden – Lincoln, Pat (Amanda) Lahm, and son Pete – Denton, Elizabeth Borgman (Chad Buhr), and daughter Presleigh and sons Grayson and Jake – Adams, Riley Laschanzky, and son Kyler – Lincoln, Dustin (Chuvy) Laschanzky and daughters Kamila and Zoey – Chicago, IL, brother Wayne, and special friend Linda Scott, Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Laschanzky, parents Ralph and Olive Shoch. Gravesite celebration of life with family and friends: 1 p.m. Monday, November 18th, Rosehill Cemetary in Waverly. Cremation. No visitation. Janet G. Lyons, born July 20, 1937, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Dedicated friend, Mother, and Grandmother – she was simply phenomenal in her own right. Jan spent her life enjoying the little things and made certain everyone around her did as well. She treasured smiles, laughter, happiness, and sunshine. She was known for her altruistic spirit, devoted love, and a trusty, fun-loving humor. Jan was surrounded by numerous friends while working for the Department of Motor Vehicles for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2000. She lived out her remaining years consuming an abundance of love & amazement from her family, while soaking in as much life and joy as she could. She was humbly made; an unclaimed teacher of selflessness and unconditional love. One who will be deeply missed and consistently celebrated. Condolences may be posted below.
