Daniel Lee Jackson, 48 of Lincoln NE, passed away on 8/24/2021. He was born 3/12/1973 in Lincoln NE.

Family includes: Wife, Jennifer; kids Hailey and Jared; Parents Mable Jackson, Sutton NE ; In-laws, Dale(Barb) Andersen, Lincoln NE, Archie Sukovaty, Crete NE; Sibilings Ricky Jackson,Lincoln NE, Andrew (Sue) Jackson, Fremont NE, Cheryl Cunningham, Sutton NE, Nancy( Al) Nicholson,Adams NE; Brother in-law, Craig (Shanda) Andersen, Lincoln NE,  Many nieces and nephews.  Proceeded by: Father, Richard Jackson; Mother In-law, Suzan Sukovaty; Brother In-law, Art Cunningham.

Daniel for most of his life worked as a diesel mechanic. He had rough/stained hands and knees to prove it. Customers would follow him to where he worked at. He landed at Mark’s Services where he was the lead mechanic for the last few years. During the summer weekends you would find Daniel at Eagle Raceway or Beatrice Speedway. He raced a Hobbystock and Sportmod for many years before stepping down to teach Jared the ropes. Fellow racers often described him as a kind and ornery man that would give his shirt to anyone that needed it. Daniel was a one of a kind man that was all about his family and friends. He will be forever missed.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Nancy Leah Jelinek

Nancy Eldred Jelinek, 70, of Lincoln, NE passed away at home on August 17.

Nancy was born July 6, 1951 in Hastings, NE and was a graduate of Hastings High School in 1969.  She graduated from Central Community College in Hastings and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years of marriage Leo Jelinek of Lincoln and son, Erik (Brooke) Jelinek of Highlands Ranch, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dorothy Eldred of Hastings, NE.  Nancy is also survived by sisters Linda Kissler of Hastings, NE, Billie (Dan) Hazelwood of Lincoln, NE, and brother, Rod Eldred of Oro Valley, AZ and brothers-in-laws Ray (Cindy) Jelinek of Grand Island, NE and Wyn Jelinek of Hastings NE.

Nancy was a member of the First Christian Church of Lincoln.  Being an avid reader herself, she supplied many books for the church’s Children’s Library.  She was a member of the Hand Bell Choir, Vocal Choirs, Bible Studies, Sunday School teacher, Stephen Ministry Coordinator, and Elder of the church.

Some of her experience includes:  working in Information Technology for Lincoln Welding, Creative Thinking a banking software company and formed her own company Steeltrack Inc., a bank reporting company.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorials in her honor may be sent to The Cat House, LPS Harvest of Books, First Christian Church Music, or Christian Education Ministries.

Ruth M. Johnson

Ruth M. Johnson, 95, died on June 3, 2021 in Lincoln Nebraska.

She was born April 13, 1926, in Sturgis, SD, the daughter of Anne and Earl Smith.

She graduated from High School in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. While in Belle Fourche she played in the cowboy marching band and drove air mail between Belle Fourche and Rapid City.

Ruth came to Nebraska to attend the University of Nebraska and played in the marching band here during World War II. She met her husband while attending the university and graduated with a degree in bacteriology.

Ruth and Ralph lived in the Hartley neighborhood for over 60 years and raised a family of seven children here. Both Ruth and Ralph were a founding member of the Hartley Neighborhood Association, which became a model for organizing other neighborhoods. Ruth was also active in the Hartley School PTA, was a volunteer at the school library and led or assisted with many girl scout, campfire and 4-H groups.

Ruth and Ralph were active for many years in the Nebraska Democratic Party and served on the Nebraska Democratic central committee, and were awarded the the Patriot’s award. Ruth also served on advisory boards for Lincoln’s mayors. Ruth and Ralph both recognized that people in Nebraska needed high quality and affordable continuing education as well as training to support the trade and service industries. To help achieve that goal, Ruth served on the Southeast Community College Board of Directors from 1989 until she turned 90 in 2016.

Family Information: Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ralph D. Johnson and her son Christopher Johnson of Hastings. She is survived by children: Penny McCord of Lincoln, Kathryn Kennedy of Albuquerque, NM, Ralph D. Johnson Jr. of Palmyra, Heidi Gasperlin of St. Paul, MN, Kim Johnson of Lincoln, and Jennifer Johnson of Lincoln, NE, and many treasured grandchildren. great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Graveside services will be on June 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Wyuka cemetery in the new Soldier’s Circle.
