John D. Hamilton was born Monday, August 28,1939 in Holdrege, Nebraska to the late Homer and Helen Hamilton. He was an Army veteran and retired from BNSF Railroad. John was a avid Husker fan, Cubs fan, loved to read and played golf as well.
John is survived by two sons, John Greg Hamilton and his wife Jennifer of Lincoln, Nebraska and David Austin Hamilton of Iowa City, Iowa. Proceeded in death by his parents.
John passed away on May 5th, 2018 at Tabitha’s Cove House in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Cremation. No visitation. Celebration of John’s life will be on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Antelope Park next to the Veteran’s Garden at 1650 Memorial Drive in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for future designation.
Lyle Duane Hobbs, 82, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018. Born to John and Ida (Dey) Hobbs on September 28, 1935 in Goehner, Nebraska; Lyle graduated from Ulysses High School. He married Sonja J. Kapke (Boyd) in March of 1969 and resided in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had 4 children; Christine (Boyd) and Jackie Jackson, Todd Hobbs and LeAnn, Deena (Hobbs) and Loren Rejda, Lesley (Hobbs) and Richard Burns. Lyle served in the US Army in Germany from 1958-1960. He retired from Brandt Excavating and enjoyed traveling, reading, and family time. He loved children; especially his grandchildren and great-grand children. He is survived by his children and grandchildren; Christine Jackson, Todd Hobbs, Deena Rejda, Lesley Burns, Heather, Chelsea, Ashley, Devon, Leif, Savannah, John, Schuyler, Kyran, Christian, Ezrah, Mila, Connor, Axton, Mackenzie, and Veda. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja (Sunny), brothers and sisters; Viola, Dale, Gary, Floyd (Butch), Clyde, and Joyce.

Gerald “Jerry” Allen Hoffer was born December 18th, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Glen Hoffer and Marcella Delores (Wolfe) Hoffer, and passed away at home surrounded by the comfort of his wife Sherry, and stepson Johnny and his wife Katelyn, on March 1st, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 11 days after a very brief battle with cancer. Jerry was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Paul and confirmed at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St Paul Park. He was a 1964 graduate of Park High School and graduated from Winona State, MN. Jerry was a chemist at 3M in St. Paul, MN and later a lab director at the Madrid, NE ethanol plant. No matter where Jerry called home throughout his life, he was always involved with chemistry in the places he worked. Jerry was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Lincoln. Jerry loved to travel and learn all he could about history and anything si-fi. Jerry was a fan of nature. One of his favorite things to do in the afternoons was sit on the patio, enjoy a cup of coffee, and watch the squirrels scurry around the yard. Jerry was a fan of jazz and folk music and enjoyed spending his spare time at The Crescent Moon with his wife. Jerry loved fast cars and watching the drag races. Despite Jerry’s age, he was an avid user of Facebook. He enjoyed reading all the funny things his friends and family shared. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed his trip to Oregon where he got to spend time with his family and meet his Grandson Leo for the first time. Although his family was scattered throughout the country, he kept them close at heart and enjoyed their phone calls. Jerry was a kind and gentle soul and was able to strike up a conversation with anyone wherever he went. His smile was comforting to others and his sincerity was welcoming. He always had a special twinkle in his eye when something amused him. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Glen and Marcella Hoffer. Survivors cherishing Jerry’s memory include his wife, Sherry Hoffer of Lincoln; sons Mike Hoffer of Portland, OR, and Greg (Theresa) Hoffer of Eugene, OR; and daughter Julie (Seth) Mills Canon of Portland OR, grandsons Leo and Liam; Stepsons Johnny (Kate) Bapat of Seward, AJ (Christina) Bapat of Lakewood, CA; grandsons Jayton Brown, Tristan Bapat, Kaleb Bapat, Justis Bapat, Bodhi Bapat and granddaughters Kandra (Nick) Hooley and Sophia Jeppesen; siblings (spouses), Sandy Williamson of St. Paul, MN, Chris (Vonita) Hoffer of Fort Smith, AR, Tony Hoffer of Maplewood, MN; Father-in-law Perry Dobyns of Lyman, WY, Mother-in-law Yvette Dobyns of Taylorville, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary (Cindy) Dobyns of Kaysville, UT, and Dannette (Tom) Stuthman of Taylorville, IL; cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Memorial Service at 9:30 a.m. on March 10th, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1720 Lake Street in Lincoln, NE, with Father Sullivan officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Fairfield Inn and Suites conference room which is located at 1000 W Bond Street in Lincoln, NE. A memorial and graveside service will be held in Minnesota at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in St. Paul Park, MN on April 20th, 2018. Basyl W. Hulewicz, 75, of Lincoln, passed away February 15, 2018.
Born August 2, 1942, in Poland. He married Pat Bussard on January 29, 1969. They had four children: Bryan (Deb) Hulewicz, Brad (Nancy) Hulewicz, Tori Bixenmann (Andrew McClure) and Brett (Katey) Hulewicz all of Lincoln. Worked at Lincoln Industries for 48 years before retirement.
Survived by wife, children, 10 grandchildren, sister; Marie (Herb) Smith, nieces and nephews.
