Martin Robert Butcher
Martin Robert Butcher, 64, of Lincoln, Nebraska entered eternal life on December 20, 2021, at his home. Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Community Church, 6000 S. 84th St., Lincoln, NE. Private Family Burial will be at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery. Martin, “Marty”, was born November 16, 1957, to Ward and Naomi (Todd) Butcher in Sioux City, Iowa. Marty was the youngest of four children. He grew up and graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1976. While in high school, he excelled in wrestling, and he also boxed from Engle’s Gym. Marty knew no stranger and loved hearing stories of other people’s lives and reminiscing about his own. Marty had a beautiful singing voice and often sang at weddings, talent shows, and his parent’s gatherings. As of recent, he loved singing karaoke with his youngest daughter, Kierstyn. In 1977, Marty enlisted in the US Air Force. He completed his basic training at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD. He was stationed in Bitburg, Germany, as an Aircraft Corrosion Specialist. While in Bitburg, he played on the base football team and traveled Europe competing against other military base teams. This was a highlight for Marty as the Bitburg Air Force team won the division championship and he enjoyed visiting the many different countries. He returned to Omaha, NE in 1983 and started Sharpe Autobody Restoration. This business led to a management position with MAACO Auto Body, and he relocated to Lincoln, NE in 1998 to manage his own franchise. Marty started working for Overhead Door Company, Lincoln, NE in 2011. He continued his employment there until August 2021 upon his illness and early retirement. Marty was blessed to have met his wife, Brenda, in 2011 and they were united in marriage in 2013. They made their home in Lincoln. Marty had five children from previous marriages. Matt (Heidi) Hicks, Sioux City, IA; Lyndsi Cunningham, Altus, OK; Hayden Butcher, Joshua Butcher, and Kierstyn Butcher, all of Lincoln, NE, and two stepdaughters, Bailey and Riley. He is survived by his wife, children, two sisters, Sandra Butcher, Sioux City, IA; Karen (Stuart) Nissen, Elk Point, SD; one brother, Roland (Nancy) Butcher, Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Keagan, Karsyn, Garret, Avery, and Fiona. Stanley A Brenning
Stanley A. Brenning, age 69, passed away December 8, 2021 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born August 16, 1952 in McCook, Nebraska to the late Eunice and Walter Brenning. Stan is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Gerald S. Brenning. After graduating high school, Stan lived and worked in McCook until moving to Lincoln in 1989. There he worked as a custodian at the University of Nebraska until his retirement. Stan enjoyed being with family and friends, playing golf, attending NU Husker Games, and attending a Green Bay Packers Game, his favorite pro team. Stan is survived by brother Bradley Brenning and Brad’s wife Cynthia. A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date. Place condolences using the form below.

Diane Brownell
Diane Brownell, 77, of Lincoln passed away Sept. 8, 2021 after a long illness.
Mrs. Brownell was born on Nov. 19, 1943 in Lancaster, PA, to J. Frank and Ellen (Diffenbach) Powl.
Mrs. Brownell grew up in Lancaster, PA, graduating from Manheim Township in Neffsville, PA, in 1961. She graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC in 1965, and later received her masters from Doane University in Lincoln, NE.
She married John R. Brownell on Aug. 14, 1969, in Grand Island, NE. Mrs. Brownell taught at Starr Elementary School in Grand Island until her retirement. She relocated to Lincoln after Mr. Brownell’s passing in 2005.
Mrs. Brownell was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother; a dedicated and compassionate teacher; and a kind and gracious friend. She put her children and grandchildren first and foremost. She loved to travel, enjoying winter trips to Florida, where she discovered new restaurants and adored the beach. She cherished her outings with her teacher friends. Mrs. Brownell was active in the Lincoln community where she briefly served on the Nebraska Humanities Council, participated in RAK, and the Woman’s Welcome Club. She also volunteered in the Morley Elementary Library. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Survivors of the immediate family include her daughter, Sara Brownell; her son, Doug Brownell; her sister, Barbara Sahling; and her grandson, granddaughter, three nieces, and one nephew.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
