Tyrone John Brabec
Tyrone, age 66 of Lincoln, NE died Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home. Born August 17, 1955, the son of Loddy and June Brabec in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Graduated from New Richmond High School in 1973. Served in US Navy as Aircraft Mechanic E-4, 1973 to 1977. Employment: Small Commercial Airline industry including Air Wisconsin, Air Midwest, Mississippi Valley, American Central, and Braniff Express. Downtown Bike shop, Lincoln Telephone Telegraph LTT (Aliant, Alltel, Windstream), and Midland Medical Supply. Retired. Married Gail Lynn Bieber on Dec 30, 1985, in Lincoln NE. Survived by wife Gail of 36 years, Lincoln NE, Darleen Brabec (sister-in-law), Ted (Christy) Brabec, Rita Brabec, Todd (Karen) Brabec, and Trent Brabec; 29 Nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and nephews, many cousins, and countless friends. Preceded in death by his parents; brother Tim Brabec. Tyrone was an avid Packer fan and stockholder. Fan of the Brewers, Badgers, and Huskers. He loved traveling with his wife and friends. They visited Isla Mujeres, Mexico for over 20 years, and the annual Cheesestock celebration in Praire Farm, WI. Most recent ‘bucket list’ vacation to Ireland. Tyrone made friends wherever he went. Work, traveling, neighbors, at home, shopping, or visiting. (human and animal alike) He was an avid collector of Airplanes, Leinenkugel’s, Green Bay Packers, T-shirts, Hats, and magnets. Tyrone enjoyed decorating his man cave the “Brabec Bar”, and garage. He hosted many “gatherings” at his home and was referred to as the ‘Grillmaster’. Michael Baker
Michael Baker of Lincoln passed away at age 73 after fighting pancreatic cancer for over 5 years. Michael was in the U.S. Army and spent 47 weeks at the Defense Language Institute learning Vietnamese prior to serving in Viet Nam. He earned his B.S. at the University of South Carolina and his M.A. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A retired educator who was National Board Certified in History, his calling was to help students think critically about the world. He sent his children to school each day reminding them to “ask good questions” as he felt that asking questions was as important as knowing the answers. As the son of a Navy Captain, Michael lived all over the U.S. and usually near an ocean. He loved the water and sailed around the Caribbean throughout his twenties. Michael’s passion was playing (and watching) golf and was a fervent Red Sox fan. He hosted several radio programs on KZUM; DeadPhish featuring jam music and Room 101 devoted to educational issues. Married to Nancy Rowch for 41 years, he is also survived by his daughter Devon Baker and her husband Matthew Hutton of Lincoln; his son Collin Baker and his partner Edith Adams of Los Angeles. He is survived by his brother-in-law Alan Rowch and his wife, Kathi of Omaha, his sister-in-law Cindy Schumacher of Lincoln, his sister Susan Watts of Palm Beach, FL, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Captain Lawrence H. Baker and Janie F. Baker of Indialantic, FL. Michael, we love you infinity giants. Sweet dreams. Celebration of Life Information: Wednesday, June 15 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course. Casual dress. Masks are encouraged. James L. Brotherson
Born in Guthrie Center, IA on August 18, 1969, Jim has left us much too soon, but he is now in a better place. Jim was a good father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was raised in Nebraska, graduated from Lincoln Southeast HS and Murray State. His talents and skills led him to experience several opportunities in his working and private life. He is survived by his sons Jake Brotherson, and Max Brotherson, Paducah, KY. He really loved those two boys of his! David George Bernt
From Garland, Nebraska. David G Bernt passed away Wednesday May 4th, 2022. He was born on May 7th, 1950 in Columbus, Nebraska to Harold and Ruth Mae (Hussmann) Bernt. He was the oldest of four children; David, Richard, Bruce and Susan (McLain) Bernt. Following graduation from Columbus High in 1968 he joined the United States Army where he was stationed at China Lake. There he met his future bride Fran. Dave and Fran had one son Fred Bernt. Dave worked for the city of Lincoln for 40 years, and had a vineyard where he grew grapes for James Arthur Vineyards. Dave and Fran celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021. David leaves behind wife Fran; son Fred and daughter in law Michelle; grandson Zachary; sister Susan; step grandsons Jay & wife Cassi, Anthony, and Jeff; and four step great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Northwest Community Church; 10200 Malcolm Road in Malcolm NE 68402. A luncheon will be held following the service at the church.
