SUNRISE: October 13, 1957

SUNSET: September 26, 2026

Terri Denise Goines-Mitchell was born on October 13, 1957, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She departed this life surrounded by family on September 26, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 68.

Terri was the daughter of Steve Goines Sr. and Helen Vaughn Goines, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Steve “Baby Brother” Goines Jr.

Terri spent her formative years in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her early education began at Central Elementary School, and she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, LA. She accepted Christ at an early age as a faithful member of Midway #2 Baptist Church. After graduation, she moved for a brief while to Duluth, MN, and then to Houston, TX. While in Texas, she worked at Hobby International Airport with her sister, Paula. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1988 and worked for many years in retail sales.

She will always be remembered for her quiet nature and the life she shared with those closest to her. Some of her greatest pleasures in life were family, listening to R&B and gospel music, and singing.

Terri leaves to cherish her memory her son, Renauld Goines, and his wife, Martina, along with her grandchildren, Julian Goines, Kamiya Goines, and Kailani Goines, all of Lincoln, NE; her daughter, Christina Mitchell of Omaha, NE; and Fitzroy Mitchell of Elkhorn, NE. She also leaves behind her sisters, Sharon Lee Witherspoon of Duluth, MN, Yvette Bates and Venida Collins of Shreveport, LA, and Paula (Ted) Goines-Williams of Houston, TX; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Terri’s family will remember her in their own special ways and carry her memory with them in the years to come.

2 Timothy 4:7–8

”I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
