Susan Kay Songster

In Loving Memory of Susan Songster
Susan “Susie” Songster, 73, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family and held in the arms of her Lord.
A devoted mother, Oma, great-grandmother, sister, wife, and friend, Susie will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her selfless heart, and her quiet strength.
Born in Lincoln to James and Dorothy Huff, Susie graduated from Lincoln High School and began her professional life as a licensed cosmetologist. She later transitioned to a successful career in banking, where she worked until taking a medical retirement in 1995.
In retirement, Susie embraced time with her family and friends, enjoyed the occasional spin at the slots, and generously volunteered for Lincoln Fire and Rescue. Her life was marked by resilience — having bravely battled and overcome cancer not once, but three times.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Huff, and her beloved husband, Steven Songster. She is survived by her sister Nancy Green, and brothers Jim and John Huff; her children Eric (Tiffany) Jones of Hickman, Amy (Chris) Pester of Denton, Tessa (Marcus) Boesiger of Roca, and Tara (Colin) Miles of Lincoln; her cherished grandchildren Tiera Jones, Trenton Jones, Madicyn (Reason) Pester, Branson Pester, Keekee Pester, Morgan Boesiger, Barret Boesiger, Reese Boesiger, Cali Songster, Brianna Anderson, Jaden Miles, and her four great-grandchildren (GG kids), who brought her endless joy — Juniper, Tahayla, Creedence, and Remington.
The family will hold a private celebration of Susie’s life on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Memorials in her honor can be sent to Tabitha Hospice.

Condolences for Susan Kay Songster
Susie was one of my best friends. I couldn’t have ask for a better friend. She was always there for me. We met when we were 10 years old and were friends for 63 years. I am going to miss her so much. She is at peace now, after fighting a long and hard battle.
Susie was my neighbor and friend. She was the sweetest, kindest person and I miss her. I never heard her complain about anything although I knew she was hurting. She was a trooper through it all. I was blessed to know her. My condolences to her family.
