October 17, 1944 – September 10, 2026

Robert Charles “Rob” Roettele, 81, died peacefully at Journey Hospice House on September 10, 2026 following a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born October 17, 1944 in David City, Nebraska to Paul and Betty Roettele. He was the second of seven children.

Rob served in the US Navy in the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Key West, Puerto Rico and Guantanamo Bay. Following military service, he was employed at Kenworth of Omaha.

He married Delores Bryson in York in 1984 and began life with a new wife and three teenagers: David, Michael and Amy. The family moved to Lincoln in 1988 for new employment opportunities. Rob worked for Concrete Industries and Constructors for eighteen years until his retirement.

Rob and Dee enjoyed numerous events and activities during their 42 years together. As members of the Rock Creek Renegades, they participated in historic reenactments of the fur trade era, were involved in muzzleloading shooting and archery competition, created and wore clothing of the period, camped in early American primitive shelters where they cooked in Dutch Ovens over open campfires.

When the Renegades established their range on property south of Lincoln, Rob and Dee spent endless hours helping with taking down trees, setting up target backstops and building the bridge across the creek. They seldom missed club meetings, workdays or shooting events and always enjoyed the potluck dinners around the campfire after all the scores were tallied and the prizes awarded.

Rob and Dee were members of Big Indian Archers and Nebraska Traditional Archers. They participated in numerous competitions and archery events.

There were also avid members of Good Guys Car Club and American Tri Five Auto Association. They enjoyed driving their restored 1957 Chevy Belair to car shows and swap meets.

Rob was always eager to meet new friends, make people feel welcome and share stories. He was an avid reader; and he and Dee filled shelves in their home with a variety of books including medieval and early American history, archery, muzzleloading, and period clothing. There were also Westerns and lots of other good novels and an impressive collection of magazines relater to their various interests.

Rob’s smile, his eagerness to lend a hand, share information, knowledge and skills; his genuine friendliness and good nature will be remembered by all those who knew him and he will be greatly missed by those organizations where he gave so much of his time and talent.

He is survived by his loving wife Delores, David (Rose) Bryson, Michael (Sherri) Bryson, Amy Bryson; three grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, 5 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Rob’s wishes, cremation was provided by Aspen Funeral Home and there were no services.
