He was born on June 27, 1964 to Gerald (Jerry) H. Magee and Olivia (Sam) A. (Schroeder) Magee, in the elevator at Lincoln General. He couldn’t wait to be born. Graduating from Malcolm High School in 1982, he worked rental construction until his mother finally caved and let him join the Marines. He served in the Marines from 1983 – 1987. He took a break to start his business, Magee Remodel, with continued success for 31 years. He graduated from Southeast Community College with a degree in Construction Management in 1990 while at the same time starting a family. Paul (Bubba) joined the Navy in 1992 and became a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the Seabees. He served two active-duty tours; Iraq 2007-2008 and Afghanistan 2012-2013. His experience and leadership skills helped him to earn the respect of his peers and his troops. He reluctantly retired in 2015 as a decorated veteran.
He was an active member in the Lincoln Gun Club for 40 years. He enjoyed helping his church, Zion Lutheran with mowing the lawn and any building needs that they had. He was dedicated to his local VFW chapter with gathering donations at Christmas and Poppy donations. His favorite part of the VFW was throwing popsicles to the kids in the Wilber Czech Day Veteran’s Parade.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman. He truly loved being out in a deer stand, no matter what kind of weather, or running around the Sandhills looking for the perfect mule to bring back home. Anytime he could get a bobber in the water he was his happiest, especially when there was a kiddo along. He loved making breakfast over an open campfire after spending the night in his camper. He tried new recipes for camping and perfecting old family favorites. He was not one to turn down a good drink with friends.
