Patricia Kost

Patricia Ann “Pat” Kost, 87, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1939, to Thomas and Margaretta Riley in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Pat was a proud graduate of Pius X High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, James Kost. The high school sweethearts married in 1960 and were blessed with four children during their beautiful life together.
Pat was a devoted member of St John’s Catholic Church for over 50 years; she found great joy and community in her weekly Bible study group. She loved spending her free time sewing, crafting, reading, and playing cards with friends. Many happy days were spent water skiing at the family cabin in Cedar Creek and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Pat also had a famous sweet tooth. Nothing brought her more comfort than a fresh cup of coffee paired with dessert, and she truly lived by her own favorite rule: “There is always a second stomach for dessert.”
Her greatest joy came from family. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We find comfort knowing that Pat is at peace, wrapped in the love she shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
Pat is survived by her son, Greg (Teresa) Kost, New Braunfels, TX; her daughters, Amy (Scott) Zimmerman, Lincoln, NE and Julie (Rens) Ross, Austin, TX; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and her brother Dave (Louise) Riley, Richardson, TX. She also leaves behind other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Preceded in death by her husband, James Kost; her daughter, Melissa Williams; her parents, Thomas and Margaretta Riley; her father-in-law, Karl Kost; her mother-in-law, Ruth Turegun; her sister, Joan Frederick; and her brother, Stephen Riley.
A private family burial will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Horisun Hospice in recognition of the exceptional and compassionate care provided during her final days at The Arbors.
