Norman Eugene Peterson “Norm”

Norman “Norm” Eugene Peterson, 65, of Lincoln, Nebraska died on January 25, 2026, after two years on hospice from esophageal cancer.
He was born on June 18, 1959, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Perry and Valeta “Sam” (Priddy) Peterson. He grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended College View Academy where he was smitten with Teresa Miller from the day they met. They married on June 4, 1978, in the Kansas City area and had their four children there.
Norm cherished his summers as a child with his grandparents on their farm in Iowa. He loved the outdoors as an avid birder, especially enjoying the times he lived along the Tennessee River and in Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks. His passion for trains led him to be part of the founding board for the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad, and created the logo still used for the tourist train in Abilene, Kansas. He served his churches in Tennessee and Kansas as treasurer and provided weekly bulletins and served his town of Enterprise in a variety of ways over the years, including as mayor.
After his stroke and cancer diagnosis, Norm picked up a passion for walking and doing his “Miracle Morning” routine, continuing a version of those even as symptoms made them harder. When he was unable to continue his model railroading, he picked up watercolor painting, commenting that something he learned in high school brought him purpose and peace up until the end of his life.
In his professional life, Norman worked as a computer programmer and analyst, owned and operated a church software company, and managed tourist properties in national parks in California before finishing his career managing a credit union.
The immediate loved ones carrying the memory of Norman include his wife Teresa; children Nathan, Nicholas, Trista, and Trina; sons- and daughters-in-law Sherri, Michaela, Matthew, and Daniel; grandchildren Alycia, Angelica, Rylie, Weston, Paisley, Ryder, Archer, Wylder, Emily, Tenley, Everly, Brylee, Ian, and Oliver; great-grandchildren Declan, Aurora, and Ayden; mother Valeta; sisters and brothers- and sisters-in-law Terri, Lori and Ernest, Lee and Judy, and Sherry and Virgil; father-in-law Phillip and Martha; along with nieces and nephews, among many others.
Norman is preceded in death by his father Perry, mother-in-law Shirley, brother-in-law Robert, and niece Catherine.
A Memorial Service and reception to honor Norman will be held on February 7, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at College View Church. A graveside service will be held on February 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Enterprise, Kansas with a reception to follow at Enterprise SDA Church.

Condolences for Norman Eugene Peterson “Norm”
Words don’t express well the sorrow we feel and how much we will miss Norm.. We loved Norman and will definitely miss him. He was part of our family for oh so many years. When thinking of Norm you can’t help but say “Teresa and Norman” It doesn’t seem like you should say one name without the other. We continue to send you our love and prayers for comfort. Love you all so much. We will be with you for both memorial and graveside service.
So enjoyed my friendship with Norm & Teresa when I lived in Enterprise. His dry sense of humor was amazing. Rest peacefully until that great Day when death is swallowed up in victory.
Norm and his sisters Teri and Lori were a central part of my childhood when both of our families lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. We spent time with each other every week end Norm’s sweetness and sense of humor made him a joy to hang out with. I respect as a grownup and admire his beautiful family. I look forward to the great reunion in heaven.
Norman was a class act. He was a gentleman, a very friendly man who had a great smile and a warm laugh. He was a a beautiful person who loved the Lord and was proud to let others know it. I feel so blessed to have known him and am thankful to have had him as my brother-in-law for 17years. Norman, you will be missed.
Brother Norm was a very kind soul & will be missed. He was always professional, helpful & gentle when giving me suggestions regarding my finances. Thanks to him, I got on track — he gave me a great rate when purchasing a nice used car a few years ago & suggested I pay off some old debt, which I since have. Thanks to brother Norm, I am so much better off not only financially, but spiritually. I will be praying for his wife, children, grands, great-grands, siblings, mother and other loved ones (including those who had the opportunity to work with him). I’m sure we are all looking even more forward to the Blessed Hope!
Norm Peterson was the first banker I ever met who struck me as a brother human at the same time he was introduced to me as a banker. He also was the only banker I’ve ever known willing to give a customer in-depth advice on the mysteries of credit and financing. (All the others I’ve ever dealt with shuck a person off with a 60 second platitude when advice is requested.) I will continue to miss him as I have ever since he retired from LSDACU. He was a “good one” professionally and humanly.
My deepest condolences, gone from us ,but you live on in our hearts. Rest in peace. Rest well in the presence of our God
