Julia Coats
Julia (Judy) Vivian Coats was born May 11,1927 to Conrad and Ella Scheneman in Culbertson NE. The family moved to McCook at the age of 16 where she met the love of her life Frank Coats who was in the army at the base in McCook. After their wedding on Christmas Eve, he spent the next two years in France during WWII. They had their first home in McCook working secular jobs and raising a family. Economics moved them to Lincoln in 1967. Judy had a variety of jobs with a sorority house, Treasure City and Mass Merchandising to name a few. After her retirement she and her husband joined a summer weekend camping club. They also loved to garden and spent time cooking and canning. Sometime after Frank’s death, her health required physical assistance moved to Haven Manor in Hickman and then at Madonna where the staff considered her their friend, mom or grandma. Judy was a good listener and truly cared about the people she loved. She was a blessing to her family and we will miss her very much.
