June 13, 1939 – October 16, 2026

Iva “Ivy” Lorraine Olson, 87, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on October 16, 2026, following a brief and unexpected illness.

She was born Iva Lorraine Rubenking on June 13, 1939, to Ernest and Callie Rubenking. On November 13, 1954, Iva married Richard Neil Olson Sr., with whom she shared a love that endured beyond his passing on October 16, 1989. Together, Iva and Richard owned Ole’s Shoe Service. Though separated by death for 37 years, their marriage remained a central part of her life and heart until her own passing on October 16, 2026, the anniversary of his death.

Iva had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved. She never met a stranger, and her magnetic personality drew people and animals alike to her. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, but those titles extended far beyond family. She had a way of embracing people exactly as they were, making sure they felt seen, valued, and worthy of love. She believed in the people around her, often helping them recognize strengths and possibilities they had not yet discovered in themselves.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Iva loved animals, babies, country music, crossword puzzles, and watching The Young and the Restless. She was a talented crocheter who lovingly made afghans for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving behind handmade reminders of her warmth and care.

Above all, Iva valued connection. She built meaningful friendships, supported the people she loved, and offered encouragement without hesitation. Her love was felt in everyday conversations, shared laughter, thoughtful acts of kindness, and the simple comfort of knowing she was always in your corner.

Iva is survived by her children, Denise Lang, Trina Butts, and Richard Olson Jr.; her sister, Wilma Rose Griffin; her grandchildren, Neil Lang, Mindy Lang, Andrea Bell, Heather Brown, Sarah Leigh, and Melissa Deliyannis; and her great-grandchildren, Morgan Weis, Ian Weis, Ryatt Meucci, Hazen Brown, and Amber Deliyannis.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Neil Olson Sr.; her sister, Virginia “Gin” Nigh; her brother, William “Bill” Reubenking; and her son-in-law, Alan Lang.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the ladies of Union Manor for the loving, welcoming community and friendships they shared with Ivy. These connections brought companionship, laughter, and joy to her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Aspen Cremation & Burial Services, 4822 Cleveland Avenue, Lincoln, Nebraska 68504.
