It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Deanna Marie (Dea) Dittmar on September 1, 2026, at the age of 66.
Born on September 12, 1959, Deanna lived a life full of compassion and love.
She was known for her strength, empathy, and the kindness she extended towards everyone she met.
She grew up on the family farm in Shelby, IA. As the 5th of 12 children and the oldest daughter, she enjoyed baking, puzzles, numbers, and mysteries.
Her enjoyment of mathematics helped guide her career path to accounting which led to dedicating 38 years of service to Vetter Senior Living alongside esteemed colleagues and friends.
She is survived by her 3 children, Kielan (Nancy) of Des Moines, IA, their 3 children (Ivoire 10, Kuwala 8, and Xu Kai 4), Tanna of Vero Beach, FL, and Jocelyn (Greg) of Lincoln, NE, their son (William 1), 11 siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Donald J. Dea and Beverly R. Dea and brothers-in-law Donald Schechinger and Tim Tuel.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on her birthday, September 12th, from 2p-5p at Southlake Village (9401 Andermatt Dr, Lincoln, NE 68526) and the 10am mass on September 13th at St Patrick’s Church in Gretna (508 W Angus St, Gretna, NE 68028) has been dedicated to her. All are welcome to attend both events in memory of Deanna.

Deanna was a classmate from kindergarten thru graduation. My classmates are like part of my family. She worked up to the end. I’m so impressed and grateful to Vetter Health for caring fir Deanna who worked for them for many years. What a compliment to you my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest easy my friend. Till we meet again.
I’ve known Deanna since Kindergarten and although we didn’t connect as much as when we were younger, I thought of her often. I was happy to hear she was receiving care in a Vetter Health facility. She was a valued Vetter Health employee for years and spoke so highly of them. Peace and sympathy to her family. Godspeed my friend. Rest easy until we meet again.

Mom, you were absolutely one of a kind. I can not express enough appreciation for the lifetime of presence and guidance you were able to offer me, my siblings, my wife, and my children. We love you, miss you, and are grateful to have been with you for as long as we could. Rest in peace.
Deanna was such a sweet person and a lifelong friend. I wish we could have had much more time with her here on earth but she will be watching over her loved ones forever in the company of God and the angels. Until we meet again. Love you, Kelly
Deanna, words cannot express how amazing you were to everyone you came into contact with. Both myself and Jocelyn will always love and miss you dont forget. You where more than a mother – in – law to me. I would go as far as to say you welcomed me into your family with open warm arms along with your children and always made made me feel special when the three of us would do things together. All of us created such cherished memories at the Zoo and at the pumpkin patch with the grand kids. Jocelyn and I are so happy that you were able to spend the the time you were able to with your latest grand child William. He will be reminded about how amazing you were to spend time with you will live on amongst our greatest memories.
