Breck Paul Stratton

On Tuesday, April 7th 2026, our beloved brother Breck Paul Stratton, age 60, was freed of his earthly bond and his soul ascended to heaven. While the sense of loss is profound, we were blessed to have had his love, laughter and friendship, and it is reassuring to know that he is at everlasting peace.
Breck was preceded in death by his mother Lorraine F. (Lloyd) Stratton and father Dean E. Stratton. He is survived by his sister Paige D. Stratton of Lincoln, NE and his brother Eric L. Stratton of Fairfax, VA.
Breck was Christian, believed in God, and he believed in heaven. We envision Breck smiling with joy and happiness as he reunites in spirit with his beloved mother, his dearest feline companions Tabitha and Phoebe, other family and friends who left before him, and a long list of animals who he instantly connected with and adored.
Born on July 27, 1965 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Breck was a 1983 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School. Breck led a humble yet truly amazing life. As a boy, Breck swam competitively at Ballard Pool and brought home numerous ribbons. For a time, he was an amateur boxer, played defensive lineman on a Lincoln semi-pro football team, and he was an excellent competitive marksman.
A generous and kind-hearted man with a strong will and gentle soul, Breck always cared for others. He was the home hospice caregiver for his mother, found joy in feeding wild birds, and took surprise treats to others’ dogs. In honor of his mom, at Christmas he would randomly hand a Christmas card containing a large denomination bill to a random person who appeared down on their luck and could use a smile, and walk away saying “Merry Christmas!”
A self-made man, after working for several local companies such as Lincoln Composites, Gooch’s Mill, Fleming Foods, and Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Breck preferred being his own boss. Emboldened by his entrepreneurial spirit, he pursued a broad spectrum of business endeavors. Including auto body repair and restoration as partner in JB Bodyworks, hand-making the aluminum injection molds for custom soft plastic fishing lures as Pebbles Bait Company, professional handyman, and for the past fifteen+ years performing drywall repair and painting as Stratton Interior Painting.
A common theme across all these is that he was 100% self-taught. He bought and sometimes developed his own tools, cultivated the businesses, kept his work spaces and tools neat, clean and organized. Most importantly, Breck became exceptionally skilled. He professionally managed everything himself, including the administrative functions necessary to run the businesses.
Breck revered and treasured his customers, not just as clients, but as friends; to Breck, they were family. Many understood the value and expertise he offered, but more importantly they appreciated his gentle and jovial personality and his demonstrated cleanliness and care. He earned such a level of trust that some customers handed him permanent keys to their homes.
Breck was a man of high character; he was responsible, honest and honorable. Another common theme is that Breck was a perfectionist who took great pride in work done well, and produced impeccably high quality results on the level of art. In a highly price-competitive marketplace, he was often under-compensated for his time and the exceptional quality of his work. Through it all, he remained thoughtful, gentle and kind.
Breck’s true passion was fishing. He loved being on the water, and he embodied the true essence of what it means to be a Master Angler. Whether catching 40lb flathead catfish on 1/32oz jig at night, aggressive largemouth bass slamming topwater lures at sunrise, or hooking huge bottom hugging bass on jig and craw at mid-day, it was always catch and release. He literally developed a mental map of the underwater structure of local lakes by feeling the bottom through tireless casts. As a result, he knew precisely where the brush piles were that held the big bass.
Breck’s untimely departure has left a huge void in the hearts and lives of all family and friends who loved him. We love you and miss you, Breck. May God embrace you, bless your heart, and rest your soul.
The best way to honor Breck’s legacy is through the sharing of your stories of your experiences with him, and sharing your photos of him. Please collect them for a celebration of life in honor of Breck to be held at a future date.

Paige and Eric, please accept our sincere condolences and prayers for family and friends. Breck was a huge part of our life for close to 50 years. Breck was a kind, loving, funny, charismatic person with a humble attitude and a great heart. He meant a great deal to me, my wife Nancy and our three children Alicia, Nathan and Haily. Breck was like brother to me and will be greatly missed!!! Our Lord has collected a precious sole in Breck and we look forward to seeing him again when our time has come. We love you and will miss you Breck!!

I was shocked to read this about Breck. Your written tribute beautifully expresses Breck’s love for people and his workmanship. I was one of those people who admired his jest for life and positive spirit despite the challenging work he flawlessly performed. So loved his stories and caring spirit. He will be missed but we will see him again in Glory. My deepest sympathies and prayers to you all.
Breck left behind a large and generous “dash”…that dash between life’s beginning and end. I have many memories of family gatherings in Havelock and Greenwood. I so appreciated his help the last time I saw him. He helped me get a HUGE treadmill out of Sharons basement. He was always giving to others.
I haven’t seen Breck in many years but I am saddened to hear about his passing. My deepest condolences. I’ll be thinking of you and praying for peace and healing.
Paige and Eric, I am so very sorry for your loss, and actually quite shocked as well. There are no words to tell you how sad I feel for you, but I am very glad that Breck knew the Lord because I will see him in heaven again, one day. I remember coming to Lincoln, Nebraska and spending time with him the one and only time I met him and he was fun to be around. I’d really love to talk to you both or either one of you if you want to reach out through email I’ll give you my phone number or actually my phone number has never changed, but I received the text sent to Paige back so please know you are loved and cared for!
Paige,
So sad to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you and Eric
Paige I am sorry for the loss of your younger brother, I met him a few times but just in passing and asking how you were doing, so I’m praying for you and Eric. Hopefully I can see you sometime! Rich Garcia.
I’m very sad and shocked to read that Breck has passed away. My heart breaks for his family and friends. Reading his obituary brought back a lot of memories as it truly described his many great qualities. Sending many prayers for comfort, strength and peace.
My 1st cousin. So sad. My age and gone.
Aspen aftercare is the only website that it has been published on by family. Echovita and Legacy have copied information and are FRAUDS preying on broken people. They are selling trees and flowers and memorials and taking the money. How sick!
Eric and Paige, so sorry to hear about Brek’s passing. We have so many wonderful memories with him and your family. Sending love and prayers.
Dear Paige and Eric, my husband Don Andrews, son James and I knew Breck for the last ten years. He did the most impeccable work for us, helping us restore a house and various other projects. He had very good taste and I almost always came around to his point of view regarding approaches and paint colors. We became friends. I just today was reading the April 16th newspaper that I hadn’t gotten to and I saw his obituary. We are so crushed and saddened. Our irises are blooming and it was often that we then would get together to plot our next project. I had resolved to call him this weekend to do so. He talked about special irises that his mother had that were at his house. He credited us with saving his life. It was around Christmas one of the years that Covid was raging. I got the impulse to call him. We brought him his favorite foods (Hot Pockets!) and Covid tests and kept checking in with him over a number of days. He was also wonderful with my son who has Down syndrome. Breck would engage him in long spirited discussions about sports.
He did have a soft spot for kittens. While he was working at a house of ours that was empty he would bring food for the newborn feral kittens under the bushes, even on his off-days.
We are going to miss him sorely.
Amy Svoboda, Don and James Andrews
I think the world of Breck. He did a lot of painting for me. He was meticulous. Also, he could fix anything and hang pictures perfectly. He soon became a very good friend to my husband and me. He was especially caring when my husband came down with cancer. Breck spent time just visiting with him. They both watched Oak Island, so they had a lot to discuss.😁
