Jane Margaret French-Sloan
Janey French-Sloan left this earthly plane May 6, 2019. Janey was born in Hastings, NE to Robert and Winifred (Peg) French. She received her bachelors from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and retired from Lincoln Public Schools. Married in August 16, 1991 to Sam Sloan. She is survived by her husband Sam Sloan, daughters Haley (Keenan) Fischman, and Melissa French-Sloan, sisters Kathy Smith (Tim Butterfield), Bobbi French, brothers Duane (Kelly) French, Rod (Lisa) French, Tim French. Also numerous nieces and nephews, and granddog Merlin. Preceded in death by parents Bob and Peg French and nephew Derek Smith. Janey was a strong and passionate person whose caring and nurturing spirit will forever be missed. As a very private person, we ask that you remember her in your own way. The most important things to Jane were family, the children she worked with in her career, and being a champion for the underdog. She also enjoyed a nice hamburger and sauerkraut pizza from Papa Ray’s. No service.

Keith R. Scheer
Keith was born in Winner, SD on January 13, 1942 and God took him home April 23, 2019. Keith’s family moved to Lincoln, NE and he attended school here. The family moved to Ashland for 3 years before coming to Lincoln. He received his GED while in the Navy. After returning to Lincoln, Keith acquired his CDL and became a local dump truck driver and this was his profession for 50 years. Keith was awarded several awards for his safe driving ability while working with General Excavating for over 19 years and Constructors for almost 10 yrs. After having a small stroke in 2015, Keith retired. He belonged TO Alcoholics Anonymous and received his 18 year medallion in February this year. Keith enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and canning (making his own salsa) among other things. He and Marla would go around the countryside picking plums, chokecherries, elderberry and whatever they could find to make jams and jellies. He was a great cook and loved handing out his soups and other dishes he would make. Survivors include his wife Marla (Elmshauser), sisters Peggy Scheer (Hoffman) of Lincoln, NE and Marilyn Olson of Winner, SD. Nephews and nieces in South Dakota and Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Zola Scheer and brother Roger Scheer Saturday, May 4, 2019 will be Keith’s Celebration of Life at The Meeting Place, 2748 S St, Lincoln, NE. Memorials to Marla in care of Aspen Cremation Service, 4822 Cleveland Avenue, Lincoln, NE 68504. His family will take Keith on his final trip to Ogallala, NE on May 11, 2019. The Prairie Life Funeral Home will have a Celebration of Life at 2:30 pm and burial at the Ogallala Cemetery. Please join the family/friends to share Keith’s journey.

John Wright Summers, 75, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2019, with his children, Laura and David, by his side. Memorial Service was on Thursday, April 25th at 2:oo p.m. at the Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE 68138. Followed, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. was a casual gathering at John’s favorite hangout, Famous Dave’s, 2750 Pine Lake Rd, Lincoln, NE 68516.
