Jerry Eugene Huffman

Jerry E. Huffman passed away peacefully at home on Saturday March 11, 2023 with his family, including his dog Mayvis by his side, just as he had wanted.

Survived by wife Kelley, daughters Tracy Mahaffey (Jim), Meagan Pratt (James) and Bryn Huffman (Andrew). Grandchildren Taylor Jordan, Katie Smith, Austin Smith, Joseph Huffman, Branden Huffman, Nevaeh Pratt, Ryleigh Pratt and Liviana Bowers; Sisters Peggy Jones (Corky), Tina McCorkle (Ed), Nieces, Nephews, four great grandchildren, as well as Cousins and Friends

Preceded in death by father Elmer Huffman Jr, mother Naomi Hart, brothers David “Pete” Huffman, Todd Huffman, and son Matthew Huffman.

Born October 16, 1948 to Naomi and Elmer Huffman Jr. in Auburn, Nebraska. He loved to raise a little hell in his younger days, but was truly a hard-working family man. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed life the most when they were around. He always made sure we had everything we needed, and we always knew he loved us. He was a simple man who never needed much to make him happy.

Family trips were just as simple as a car ride to and a car ride back from anywhere. He loved his sweets and was easy to buy for on his birthday. Snickers, Little Debbie snack cakes, half gallons of ice cream almost nightly and Dairy Queen’s Dilly Bars. He shared his love of ice cream with his dogs, taking them to the drive thru for pup cups. He loved to be outdoors, always working on a project or camping and fishing with family and friends. For years, you could find him enjoying his time in Wilber at the cabin. When family and friends came, the music was turned up and the laughter lasted into the night.

He worked construction for many years in Lincoln, including E.O.Peters, and later as owner/operator of Huffman Trucking.

He will be held in our hearts forever

No service at his request. Memorials may be donated to your local humane society or rescue.

Randall L. Malone

Randy Malone, who loved a good book, a long bike ride, and his best friend Sally, passed away on March 8, 2023 in Lincoln. Randy, 72, a Lincoln resident earned a living as a long distance trucker for decades, but his passions were closer to home.

He was always an avid reader, especially non-fiction.  When young, he enjoyed rodeoing and motocross. Later, he enjoyed golf and bicycling. Randy graduated from College View Academy in 1968, and attended Union College and UNL. He was an Army veteran, with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Randy is survived by his wife and partner of 35 years, Sally, whom he met in a program for recovering alcoholics.  Randy was sober over 21 years before his death. Typical of Randy’s kindness, was his response to his illness. Right after he told Sally that he had Stage 4 metastasized cancer, he asked, “What can I do to make this easier for you.”

Randy and Sally are grateful for the excellent services by Cancer Partners and HoriSun Hospice and The Monarch.
