Howard Leslie Scherer
Howard Leslie Scherer, 71, of York, NE passed away on July 18, 2023 at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, NE following a heart attack.
He was born June 11, 1952 to Milton and Doris (Hilleary) Scherer in Fort Madison, IA.He grew up outside of Donnellson, IA and graduated from Central Community High School. Howard studied at Southeastern Community College in Keokuk, IA and later the University of Iowa. In Iowa City, he met and married Carol (Gerlach) Scherer and his son Matt was born. They later moved to Waco, NE where his son Randy was born. In December 1990 he married Cheryl (Dickes) Scherer in York.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul, and his wife. He is survived by his sons, Matt (Tammi) Scherer, and Randy Scherer; step-children, Kyle (Tondi) Hager, Brent (Jeni) Hager, Mindy Hager, and nine grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Shirley (Moander), Richard, William, Carol (Edgar), and Carol (Gerlach) Scherer.
Howard will be remembered during a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. We appreciate your love and prayers during this difficult time.

Birdie Oleatha Farr
Our beloved Birdie O Farr, longtime resident of York NE, passed away at age of 95 at her home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John Farr, daughter Linda Eastman, and grandson Andrew Luster. She is survived by daughters Tonya Martin, Connie Sievert, Gretchen Farr, and son in law Breck Eastman. As well as grandchildren, John Fears (Stephanie), Chad Martin, Jason Wright (Christine), Arien Martin (Gwen), Shawn Wright, Dustin Wright, LaTrice Reed (David), Penelope Luster, and Saunna Luster. Along with many nieces and nephews, great, and great great grandchildren. Services held August 5, 2023 at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church; 309 E 7th St. York, NE 68467.
