Bobby J. Duchek
Bobby Joe Duchek was born to Leroy and Marjorie (Remington) Duchek on September 25, 1954, in Lincon, Nebraska. He entered his eternal home on August 25, 2023, after a long battle of throat and lung cancer. Bob was raised on a farm south of Dorchester, Nebraska with his brother and sister, Randy and Angie. Where he got the love of farming with his dad. He had attended Country School till 2nd grade and continued his education at Dorchester Public Schools. Throughout school he competed in football and basketball. Following graduation (1972) Bob worked at Alpo, Kassik Milling Company, and Petersen Manufacturing Company. He continued to work there till he left to work on the farm with his dad. Then fulfilled a long life of farming. At the time he also dabbed in working at Nebraska Public Power and Spilker Trucking. He married Pam Vergith on December 17th, 1976, and was married for 46 years. To that union two girls Carmen and Jennifer were born. He took pride in his family and Jennifer blessed him with two beautiful granddaughters, Jayana and Tierra. He enjoyed going to all their school functions and supporting the audience. Bob was proceeded in death by his daughter; Jennifer, parent; Leroy and Marjorie, In-laws; Tad and Barb Vergith, and brother- in- law; Mike Pierce. He survived by his wife; Pam Duchek, daughter; Carmen Blazek, granddaughter; Jayana and Tierra Duchek, brother; Randy (Christine) Duchek, sister; Angie Pierce, brother-in-law; Gary (Bonnie) Vergith, and many nieces and nephews. Harvey J. Bouwens
Harvey J Bouwens 85, passed away Tuesday, August 22nd 2023 at Independence House in West Lincoln. Harvey was born February 4th 1938 in rural Adams, Nebraska, the son of Jacob Bouwens and Emma (Hestermann) Bouwens. He grew up in rural Adams and graduated from Adams High School in 1955. Harvey worked for Campbells Soup in Auburn, Meadowgold Dairy in Lincoln, quarries in Waterloo, NE and The Nebraska Department of Roads for over 50 years. He retired in 2012. Harvey loved traveling and new adventures, he was always on the go, he loved garage sales and going to the auto salvage yard to find auto parts for his car and vehicle collection. He was always the sound voice of reason, he would help anybody, he truly was a prince among men, a fierce friend, father and husband. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty and the love he held for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harvey is survived by Catherine Bouwens his wife, younger brother Lyle Bouwens (Donna) of Lincoln, son Michael of Lincoln, son Matthew (Melanie Byrd), Debra Pelsor of Cortland, Emily (Brian) Roberts of Lincoln, Guy Pelsor (Janine) of Lincoln, Grandchildren Jacob, Cody, Robyn and Cayden. Preceded in death by his parents and first wife Lucille. Celebration of Life will be held September 16th 2023 2PM until 4PM at Prairie Creek Inn located at 2400 S 148th Street, Walton, NE. Alvin M. Kraus
Born on November 15th, 1930. Passed away August 18th, 2023. Alvin passed away Friday at home surrounded by family. Born to Joseph and Christina Kraus in Pleasant Dale Nebraska. Al moved to Lincoln when he was 15, met his soulmate and began his long journey. He joined Lincoln Fire in 1953 and retired February 1, 1988, as captain after 35 years. He worked at Keo’s and Nebraska Game and Parks before finding his final job as a Red Coat at Lincoln Airport Authority. After over 17 years he retired on April 1, 2023. Al is preceded in death by his wife Pat, daughter Marcia Bice, grandson Garson Kraus, and daughter in law Kathi Kraus. Survived by daughter Vicci Eddings, son Gary (Lisa) Kraus, Son-in-law Marvin Bice – grand children Sam Eddings, Chance Eddings, Cheyene Ralston (Bice), Cody Bice, Chelsea Swolensky (Kraus), Tasha Fifer, and Lucas Kendle and 11 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday August 28, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall; 241 Victory Ln, Lincoln, NE 68528. Karen Sue Lange
Karen Sue Lange, 69, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on August 15, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with cancer. Karen was born June 20, 1954 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Howard and Margaret Lange. Karen enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. She was the one everyone turned to if they needed advice or someone to talk to. She prided herself on being a meticulous cleaner. She could take anything and make it appear brand new. She is preceded in death by her long time partner Howard Martin, and her parents. She is survived by her brother’s and Sister’s, Larry, Beverly, Linda, Marcia, and John Lange along with Niece Haley Lang and her children Malik, Bentley and Harmony Amerson.
