Marcene Elizabeth Gardner

Marcene “Marcy” Elizabeth (Welper) Gardner, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, in Lincoln. She was born on December 5, 1942, to Herb and Meta Welper in Amherst, Colorado. Marcy was the beloved younger sister of Imogen (Welper) Pillard and Genevieve (Welper) Lutze.

As a baby, Marcy moved to Holyoke, Colorado, and later, at the age of 14, she relocated to Seward, Nebraska, where she attended Concordia Girls School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to further her education, and in 1961, she attended the National Business College. In Lincoln, Marcy met and married Kenneth (Kenny) Gardner. Marcy and Kenny’s union blessed them with two children, Lisa (Gardner) DeBrie and Aaron Gardner.

Marcy had a passion for antiques, gardening, and a deep love for her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. To her grandchildren whom she fiercely loved and supported, she was affectionately known as “Grandma Gert”. Marcy’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, devotion, and a passion for the things she held dear will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Marcy is survived by, her daughter, Lisa (Gardner) DeBrie, son, Aaron Gardner, grandchildren, Austin, Lexi, Andrea, and Jessica Gardner, and great-grandchild, Ryland Parker. Marcy was preceded in death by, her parents, Herb and Meta Welper, and sisters, Imogen (Welper) Pillard and Genevieve (Welper) Lutze.

May Marcy’s soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and joy to us all.

Glen R. Chrisp, Jr.

Glen Radcliff Chrisp Jr. 75, of Ulysses, NE passed away on Friday October 6, 2023 in Lincoln, NE. Born April 13, 1948 in Broken Bow, NE to Glen (Sr) and Esther (Howard) Chrisp.

Glen attended Lincoln High school and the University of Nebraska where he played football. He served in the United States Army. He was employed at Goodyear until his retirement.

Glen loved his cars. He was known to restore them, race them and drive them through the neighborhood making the young guys jealous. When he raced he always named his cars “Crispy’s Critter”. He is known to have influence a lot of people including his nephew who now calls his cars the same thing.

Glen is survived by his brothers; Kenny and Mark; sisters; Ann Creps, Pat (David) Langston and Kathy Townsend, sister-in-laws Deb Chrisp and Melody Chrisp, and many nieces and nephews. Along with a lot of good friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers David, Jerry and Wayne; also a sister-in-law and two nieces.

A Celebration of Life will take place on October 28, 2023 from 2 to 5 pm; at The Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall 241 Victory Lane, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Sharon Sue Jewitt

Sharon Jewitt was born May 7, 1945 to Gerald & Virginia Lienberger in Beloit Kansas. She passed away on October 6, 2023 in Hebron Nebraska, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was married to Robert Packer and in this marriage, they had 4 children. They lived in Wilber, Nebraska. After this marriage ended in divorce, Sharon moved to Friend and married John Jewitt. Sharon worked at Petersons, Square D, Farmland, had her own cleaning business, and a leasing agent. Sharon and John spent many years traveling in their camper across the United States and Canada. Sharon resided in Lincoln following their travels and made many friends. In July of 2023 Sharon moved to Assisted Living in Hebron, NE to be closer to family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed her flower gardens when she lived in Friend, dabbling in painting, a wonderful cook and an avid seamstress. Sharon also enjoyed hosting holiday get togethers with her family, making baby blankets for her grandchildren and great grand -children.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Tammy & John Noojin, of Deshler, NE daughter Penny & Loren Thompson, of Wilber, NE daughter Christina & Dale Reece of Hebron and son Robert “David” & Tammy Packer of Wilber. Sharon had 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. And her good friend Tom Eilers of Lincoln. She is proceeded in death by her late husband John, her brother Rex, her parents Gerald & Virginia, and infant brother David.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 28, 2023 at the Friend Country Club from 2:30-4:30. This is a catered event so no outside food will be accepted.

Cards can be mailed to David Packer 1505 County Road 1600, Wilber, NE 68465 for those who are unable to attend.

Memorials to the family in lieu of flowers.

A private interment of John & Sharon Jewitt’s ashes will precede the Celebration of Life, Family will gather at 1:30 p.m. at Andrews Cemetery, 604 County Road E, Friend, NE for the interment.

Parmjit Kaur

Parmjit Kaur (Pam) age 67, loving mother and adoring wife passed away on late hours of October 4, 2023. Pam was born in Garhshankar, India and move to Lincoln, NE in 2005.

Pam and her husband ran successful Indian restaurant in Lincoln for 12 years and retired in 2013. Pam was passionate about gardening and loved planting flowers, fruits, & vegetables every spring.

Pam is survived by her husband of 41 years Bhupinder Singh, four children, two grandchildren and lots of plants. She will be missed by her family and friends.
