Jeanne M. Wilson
Jeanne M. Wilson, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024 in Lincoln, NE. Jeanne was born on July 19, 1950, to John C. and Ina P. (Gibbs) Zabel in Big Springs, NE. Jeanne was an only child. What she lacked in siblings she made up for in friends. She was known for her laid back lifestyle and quick wit making it easy for her to make and keep friends for a lifetime. Jeanne married Rod Wilson on June 2, 1990, in Lincoln, NE. She became an instant mother that day to Erin and Eric. She retired from LT&T, and then from Home Depot and UNL. Jeanne had a love for buttons, cats, and buying gifts for friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children Erin (Justin) Foxhoven and Eric Wilson and her grandchildren Ian and Layla Foxhoven, special cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Rod (May 31, 2017). Celebration of life will be on Friday, April 5 at 2pm at the chapel in First Plymouth Church. Please use the west or south entrances. “Joe” Joseph Baldassano Jr.
Joseph Baldassano, Jr. was born in Bethesda, MD on May 30, 1954. He was the 4th of 6 children born to Joseph, Sr and Marie. His early childhood and teen years were spent in Rockville, MD. He enlisted in the US Army in 1976 and served with the 561st Military Police Company at Ft Myer, VA. He proudly served in the Honor Platoon, which is responsible for security at high profile and dignitary events, such as the Inaugural Parade for President Jimmy Carter. Joe met his wife, Jane Steinkamp, while both were serving in the US Army. They married in 1978, and were parents of a daughter, Brandi, and a son, Justin. After their discharge from the military, they relocated to Nebraska, where Joe continued his career and education in law enforcement. He served as a police officer in Aurora and a Cass County deputy sheriff before utilizing the GI Bill to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1990. He worked in the Nebraska Department of Corrections as a Caseworker, Parole Officer, Parole Hearing officer, Administration Assistant, Assistant Warden, and Acting Warden of Community Corrections before retiring in 2016. He then worked as a Deputy for Gage County Sheriff’s office until 2017 when he finally permanently retired. Joe enjoyed traveling, and he and Jane rode their Harley Davidson motorcycles all over the United States, visiting many National Parks. After retiring from the biker years, he still pursued traveling wherever and whenever he could. The trip of a lifetime was to the Galapagos Islands, where he swam with sea lions, trekked among giant tortoises, and walked the exact ground as his hero, Charles Darwin. This trip lasted only a week, but resulted in lifelong friendships with fellow travelers. Joe passed away on March 25, 2024 after a brief, but valiant fight with cancer. He is survived by wife of 45 years, Jane, and children, Joseph and Michael of Maryland, Brandi of Seward, and Justin of Lincoln. The apples of his eyes are his grandchildren, Savannah, Camden, and Emma. He is also survived by two sisters, Carol and Vicki, and two brothers, Michael and Stephen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Philip. Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Omaha National Cemetery. Flora J. Pool
Flora J. Pool was born on December 3rd, 1935 in Lincoln to John and Mollie Loos. Flo was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She died peacefully on March 24th at her home, the Legacy Terrace surrounded by her family. Flo is survived by her three daughters, Mollie Mertens and husband Dennis, Edna Jones and husband Larry, Mari Eckhout and husband Tim all of Lincoln. Flo was a proud Grandmother, otherwise known as Granny Goose to her grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Bobbi Jo (Jeremiah) Summer (Micah) Chad (Nicole) Zachery (Jennica) Wyatt (Bailey) Tim (Kara) and Connor. Flo will be remembered as the most loving great grandmother, also known as GiGi, to Madeline, Andrew, Aiden, Adam, Brittany, Alex, Jake, Chloie, Carter, Morgan, Sawyer, Trexton, Clint and Travis. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome, daughter Carmella, son Glen, and grandson Clint, along with her parents and 12 siblings. Flo had a large family that she loved more than anything in the world. She always had a story to tell, and laughter to share. Flo was the most generous person you could ever hope to meet. She never knew a stranger, and once you met her, you had a friend for life. A Celebration of Life for this beautiful lady will be held on Saturday, March 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sunridge Apartment Clubhouse located at 8311 Sunridge Road in Lincoln, Nebraska.
