Marcella “Marcy” N. Merrihew, 66, of Alliance, NE, passed away on June 26, 2018, with her family by her side.
She was born in Sidney, NE on April 9, 1952 to James and Gladys (Earnhard) Haskell. She was the youngest of five children. Marcy grew up on a farm by Lodgepole, NE. She attended Lodgepole High School and graduated from Chadron State College. On May 31, 1975 she was united in marriage to Dwight Neil Merrihew.
Marcy was a country school teacher that taught at Hemingford, District #44, District #40 and substituted at various schools in Box Butte County. She was a past member of the United Methodist Church and Jaycee Jills. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marcy and Neil had recently celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Survivors include three children: Mandy (Daniel) Rohrer of Hickman, NE, Megan (Phil) Bohlen of Memphis, NE and Jason (Dallas) of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren, Makayla Rohrer, Carter Rohrer, Alicia Bohlen, Abbey Rohrer, Caleb Bohlen, Bryce Rohrer, Alex Rohrer and Layne Merrihew.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jim and Gladys Haskell, sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Bob Mashek, brother Tom Haskell, and father in law Robert Merrihew.
Memorial Service will be held July 7, 2018 at 11am MST at the Alliance Methodist Church.
Burial of the urn will be 10am, July 8, at the Kowanda Cemetery – rural Oshkosh, NE.

Richard A. Knutson (Rich, Dick, Uncle Dill) 67 years, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on June 25, 2018. Richard was born November 20, 1950 in Lincoln to Geraldine (Stiles) Knutson and Walton Knutson. Richard joined the Marines after graduating from Lincoln High School. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War,(1968/1970) . After returning home he worked for Goodyear for 33 years, Also serving as chief Stewart for the union for years. Richard is survived by two sons Sean and Eric; granddaughter Summer; brother Jack Knutson; sisters Sue (Phil) Reeves and Pam Smith; nephew Sam Knutson, nieces Jessica Knutson and husband Adam Miller, Amanda (Ben) Estrella; grandnephews & grandniece Jackson and Austin Estrella and Abigail Miller; Uncle Richard Stiles; Aunts Sandra (Arvin) Frohn and Gloria Epply. and many cousins. Gary Richard Whitson, age 72, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on June 23, 2018. Gary was born on May 4, 1946 in Opelika, Alabama. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. He then went on to study botany at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Gary served in the Navy from February, 1965 to December, 1968 on a flagship in the Philippines. In addition, Gary was on tour in Vietnam for four years April, 1969 to May, 1976. Gary then worked as manager of the photo lab for the Nebraska Department of Revenue. He operated several different floral shops. He was also a chef at The Acreage Restaurant in Lincoln. Before retiring, Gary spent ten years overseeing supplies for St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Left to cherish her memories as brother and sister is his dear sister Debra Johns of Lincoln. Gary requested no services.
