David Lee Allen

David Lee Allen, age 56, passed away in his home on July 8, 2024, Lincoln, Nebraska. David was youngest of six children born to Leola M (Weisz) Allen and Wilbur E Allen, Jr.

He is survived by son, Elijah Dean Allen, brothers, Richard Allen, wife Joy, Scott Allen and sister, Susan Keane, husband David Keane, and several nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by mother, Lee Allen, of Lincoln, NE, father, JR Allen, of Colorado Springs, CO, sister, Desiree A (Allen) Greever, husband Bruce, of Lincoln, NE, brother, Danny R Allen, wife, Bonny of Colorado Springs, CO.

David attended Lincoln East High School. After high school, David attended Phoenix Institute of Technology where he was awarded a Certificate of Achievement as a Computer Aided Draftsperson. His clients included such companies as Jerico Metal Specialties, Livers Bronze Co, and Poynter Co.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life, July 20 2024, 1:00-5:00 pm at Bethany Plaza, 1145 N Cotner Blvd, Suite G, Lincoln, NE.

Janet Eileen Bishop “Jan”

Janet died at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, NE on July 3, 2024.

Janet was born in Valentine, NE. She was the seventh child of a seventh child, born on the seventh day of the seventh month in 1947. She was born at 7 p.m. weighing seven pounds. Janet would have been 77 on July 7.

Janet attended Valentine schools from kindergarten to graduation in 1964. She attended Chadron State College for one year and then moved to Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She worked at Citizen State Bank and later at Nebraska Student Loan Program until her retirement.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mildred Bishop; her sister and husband, Jacqueline and Gerald Grace; her sister, Marilyn; and her brother, William Bishop; her nieces, Kellie Irish and Marlys Brindisi; and grandnephew, Isaac Luther Brewer.

Mourning her loss are her brother and wife, Robert and Jeanne Bishop of Lincoln; sister and husband, Jean and Lyle McMindes of Grand Island; sister, Sharon Bishop of Henderson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at a later date in Valentine, NE

Linda M. Nelson

Linda Marie Nelson, born May 15, 1953, daughter of Richard & Wanda Bratt of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on June 29th, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Lyndon Nelson for over 50 years, mother to Cory (Lynette) & Tracy (Aaron), grandmother to Peyton, Henry and Greta, sister and aunt to many. Linda was known for her ferocious spirit and strength. She loved animals (especially dogs and horses), Agatha Christie mysteries, dancing, music and snuggling her grandbabies. She and Lyndon loved to spend their time together raising and showing Italian Greyhounds and Whippets. Several of their dogs became champion show dogs, bringing home countless ribbons and prizes. They also had a passion for camping and spending time with their family in the Colorado Rocky Mountains surrounded by nature. In 2015 they lost their son, Cory, after his hard fought battle with leukemia, a loss Linda carried with her. She and Cory are deeply missed.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Wanda Bratt, parents-in-law, Stanley & Virginia Nelson, son, Cory Nelson, sister, Shari Wilson, brother, Richard Bratt Jr., brother-in-law, Darrell Nelson and  goddaughter / niece, Jessica Wilson.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside memorial at Central City Cemetery, on Aug. 2nd at 10am, Central City, Nebraska.

Memorials may be directed to Lyndon Nelson or Tracy Grauer to be used for donations to the American Diabetes Association & American Cancer Society in memory of Linda.
