Grover Michael Shaw
Grover Michael Shaw was born July 24, 1940 to Clarence and Frances (Tomjack) Shaw of Ewing, Nebraska. He grew up and lived in Ewing until after high school when in 1959 he married Ellen Donohoe. They lived with their seven children in several small towns throughout Northeast Nebraska, including O’Neill and Norfolk. Grover drove a truck for a living and put many miles on the highways and interstates going coast to coast. He enjoyed having coffee with all the locals at the coffee shop and he was sure they all wanted to hear his bad dad jokes! He also loved his cats and old western movies. When not working Grover enjoyed spending time with family and family pets, fishing, and visiting state parks among other interests. Grover was remarried to Joyce and enjoyed touring the country in the truck. In later years his favorite vacation destination was the Black Hills region. He had a long-standing dream of becoming a pilot like his father but over the years that dream was set aside. An afternoon of flying over the Black Hills in a helicopter was one of the many highlights that he enjoyed. Grover passed from this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska and was reunited with his parents and wife, Joyce from his second marriage. Rest in peace, Dad – we love you. Grover is survived by his seven children: Julie (Terry) Holz, Mike Shaw, Shelley (Dave) Boyd, Tony (Michelle) Shaw, Stephanie (Gary) Cuddy, Heidi Shaw and Andrea (Tim) Driscoll. As well as his stepchildren: Diana Sullivan (Danny), Denise McMeen (Bob), Deborah Martin (Michael), and Gene Dietz (Penny). He is also survived by his 27 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A private service and Celebration of Life will be held in Ewing, Nebraska. Memorials may be sent in care of the Shaw family to Aspen Cremation Service: 4822 Cleveland Ave, Lincoln, NE 68504. Grover be deeply missed. Fly high! We love you forever! To leave a condolence please use the form below.

James W. Behrens
James W. Behrens (Jim) was born on January 24, 1950, and drew his last breath on June 19, 2024, which we believe was due to the fact that he didn’t want to watch the upcoming election results. He was born to James & Betty Behrens in Lincoln, NE. Jim started working in the food industry quite some time ago and made it his lifelong career. In the 1980’s he started with the McDonald’s Corporation where he held various positions as he worked his way up the corporate ladder. In 2002, Jim and Melanie purchased two McDonald’s franchises in SE Kansas and resided there for 7 years. They sold the stores in 2009, moved back to Lincoln, NE and Jim retired shortly thereafter. Jim enjoyed golfing and anything to do with water, which included waterskiing and the swimming pools he had at virtually every house he owned. As most know, he was very proud of how he kept the pool, always having the correct amount of chlorine so the pH balance was perfect. He’d invite family, friends and neighbors over anytime to swim, eat and enjoy adult beverages. He was very competitive and never liked losing. When it came to playing water volleyball, he’d carefully choose his teammates every time to ensure he had the best shot at winning. He also enjoyed watching Judge Judy, overseeing Melanie’s quilting projects and giving her his two cents on flowers & landscaping ideas. Jim is survived by his wife, Melanie, his son, James Behrens, Jr. (Lisa) of Maricopa, AZ, granddaughters, Macy Behrens of Seattle, WA & Madison Behrens, Maricopa, AZ and stepson, Brock See (Rebecca) of Lincoln, NE, many nieces & nephews and numerous friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Billy Jean Kolesar and Karen Hrdlicka. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Old Pub, 420 South 11th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508 on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2-4pm. Memorials to the family for future designation.
