Guy Daniel Brinkman

Guy Daniel Brinkman passed away peacefully at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska, on September 12th, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Lincoln on July 15th, 1950, Guy lived a fulfilling life, marked by dedication to his family, career, and favorite pastimes.

He cherished the simple joys of life, spending weekends at his parents’ cabin on Lake Leba near Fremont, Nebraska, and cheering on his beloved Huskers. He loved taking road trips and spending time with family.

Guy had a diverse and fulfilling career, working with Burlington Northern and various airlines, including Frontier, United, and Delta. He also managed a King’s Foodhost Restaurant in Salina, Kansas, but ultimately retired from Goodyear. His work ethic and dedication earned him respect from colleagues and friends alike.

Guy was married to the love of his life, Marilyn Brinkman, for 50 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children: Daniel (Karissa) Brinkman of Faribault, Minnesota; Kelly Brinkman of Portland, Oregon; and Ryan Brinkman of Omaha, Nebraska. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel’s four children, Byrlin, Taijah, Keyn, and Kanaan, and Ryan’s son, Talon. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Mark) Dinges of Ashland, Nebraska.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Winston (Wink) Brinkman, and his brothers Michael, Jeffrey, and Leo Brinkman.

A funeral service will be held on October 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 4500 Duxhall Dr., Lincoln, Nebraska. A celebration of life will follow with food and drink in the church hall. Burial will take place at 4:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Manley, Nebraska.

Guy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be dearly missed.

Pamela S. Graves

Pamela Sue Null Graves went home to her heavenly father on September 10, 2024. Born to Steve and Kathy Danley Null on March 22, 1973.

Survived by her mother Kathy Null; her brothers Scott (Jody) Null and Rodney Null; her children Cory VanDeVenter, Joshua VanDeVenter, Jacob Upton, and Mikayla Upton; step children Zach Graves, Justin Graves, Josh Graves, Nicole Graves, and Nicole Upton; as well as nine grandchildren; special friend Bill Rohe; and her nieces and nephew.

Preceded in death by her father Steve Null; her husband Lonnie Upton; and her grandparents.

Pam loved music and her pets.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 21, 2024 at Antelope Park; S. 27th Street in Lincoln from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Val Warren Mitchell

Val W. Mitchell of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away at the age of 85 with family at his side on
Monday, September 9, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Orange, California on February 28, 1939, to Shelvine and Ferne Mitchell, Val graduated
from Will Rodgers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1957. Following an agricultural degree at
Oklahoma State University, he served in the Army from 1962-1964.

Val married Marlys on March 19, 1966. They raised three children, daughters Debbie and Kim,
and son Jim.

His career in agricultural sales brought him positions in California, Colorado, Missouri, and
Nebraska.

Following retirement, Val enjoyed playing golf, watching Nebraska Cornhusker sports, Kansas
City Royals baseball, and above all attending his grandkids’ activities. He played guitar for
many years, including participation in a bluegrass band to accompany his lifelong love of
country and bluegrass music. A favorite daily routine he and Marlys enjoyed for years was
taking part in a coffee social group, making great friends along the way.

Val was preceded in death by his father Shelvine, his mother Ferne and brother Jim.

He is survived by his wife Marlys, daughter Debbie Mitchell, his son Jim (Shelly) Mitchell, his
daughter Kim (Ben) Ford, grandchildren Courtney, Sam, Nate, Jonah, Aaron, Landen, great
grandchildren Cosima and Milo, sister-in-law Dotty and nieces Kari and Cori.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
