Susan “Sue” Kaye (Green) Hays Age: 74 Residence: Lincoln, NE Day and Date of Death: Thursday, September 3, 2020 Place of death: Home Cause of death: Cancer Date of birth: August 28, 1946 Place of birth: Geneva, NE Names of Parents: Walter Green and Sophia Trautman proceeded her in death Siblings: Michael Schleicher (proceeded her in death) and Linda Shaw Employment: Retired from Parker Hannifin Enjoyment: Sue was an avid sports fan. She played fast pitch softball for years. Sue enjoyed watching all sports especially the Huskers. Football was her favorite to watch and she watched all games, but would not miss a Husker or Dallas Cowboys game on television. She never made it to a Dallas Cowboys game but watched several Big XII Championships in the Cowboys stadium and toured both of the stadiums before the games. Children: Walter and Coleen Hays and Michele and Joe Selvage Grandchildren: Tiffani and Mike Hix, Andrea Hays, and Ashley Hays Great Grandchildren: Rae and Grace Hix Nieces: Carla and Dave Bruha and Clara Shaw Former Daughter in Law: Donna Hays Pets: Otis ‘Silly Boy’ (dog that was like her third child) Ex In-laws: Hays Family is still family. (not sure how to say this) There will be a Celebration of Life for Susan in spring of 2021 for information you can reach out to Michele or Walt. Memorials to Nebraska No Kill Canine Rescue as this is where she adopted Otis from. Otis was her silly boy and faithful friend since she adopted him. Family would like to thank her bath aide Jen and caregiver Blake for helping make the transition of her life be filled with laughter and love when family could not be by her side. George Robert “Bob” Huff
George Robert (Bob) Huff was born December 9, 1922, in rural Elmo, MO, to Walter and Vira Huff. He graduated from Elmo High School in 1939. He married Onalea Olson, June 1, 1946, in Shenandoah, IA. They lived in Elmo, MO; Hopkins, MO; Bedford, IA; and Lincoln, NE. He was a retired farmer and agricultural products salesman. They were long-time members of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church in Hopkins, MO. Bob died in his home at Sumner Place in Lincoln, NE, on August 16, 2020, at the age of 97. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Onalea; all 7 children Ronald Huff of Lincoln, NE; Sue Schwenk and husband Fran of Liberty, MO; Annette Barnett and husband Terry of Lincoln, NE; Diane Lotfi of Sacramento, CA; Mark Huff and wife Jony of Bastrop, TX; Kay Huff and husband Jon of Lawrence, KS; and Mike Huff and wife Delia of Bartlesville, OK; his brother Jack Huff; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends. John Francis Higgins
On Wednesday, August 5, 2020, John Francis Higgins of Schuyler, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. John will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A voracious reader and seeker of the truth, a world traveler and a man of keen intellect with a passion for economics and history, he will also be remembered for throwing some of the best parties in Colfax county and having a well known gift for telling stories and jokes. He is survived by his three children, Holly (Gordon), Mary Jean and F.J.(Jenna), grandchildren Caitlin Lortz, Jack Lortz, and Jack Higgins, great-grandchildren Lily and Athan Stavropoulos, his sister Patricia Bergstrom (Bob) and nieces Jacquie Boggs and Candace Krukas. John was preceded in death by his father, Frank, mother, Evelyn and his sister, Jean. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined later. Nancy Jean Heiser
Nancy Jean Campbell Heiser of Lincoln, Ne passed away June 30th, 2020 in Lincoln. Nancy was born June 9th, 1944 in Falls City, Ne. She was raised in Falls City and graduated with the Class of 1962. She was responsible for forming the first Falls City High Pep Club. She was a lifeguard at the Falls City Pool. Nancy at onetime lived in New York City. Nancy worked for the Falls City Bakery with her sister-in-law Karol Campbell. She moved to Lincoln and worked as a secretary for the Municipal Court Probation Office. Nancy relocated to Phoenix, Az where she started her own very successful catering food truck business. She eventually returned to Lincoln to be closer to family and began working at Centurion International as a plant supervisor. She became an integral part of making Centurion one of the most successful manufacturing plants in Lincoln at the time, she was proud of her accomplishments at Centurion. She retired from Centurion and enjoyed spending time with her family, keeping up on facebook and playing computer games. She was a huge Husker fan and will surely be shouting “Go Big Red” from her new heavenly home. Nancy is survived by her children Julie Davidson (Lonnie) Rush, Bella Vista, Ar, Richard (Cindy) Heiser, Eagle, Ne, and Kif Buis of Lincoln, Ne. Her siblings James (Karol) Campbell, Grand Prairie, Tx, Carrie Clark (Tony) Legnon, Port Arthur, Tx, and Tracey Clark (Joey) Barnes, Powhattan, Ks. Her father Donald Clark of Falls City, Ne, and grandchildren Katie Jean, Nancy Marie “baby Nancy”, Chris, Montana, and Mitch, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family as well her extended family and friends at her apartment building aka The Lincoln Manor Mafia. Nancy was known for her friendliness, being fair and her laugh that was contagious. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She took those old records off the shelf, she sat and listened to them by herself, she says today’s music doesn’t have the same soul. She just wants to hear some of that old time rock and roll. At her request there will be no service at this time. The family will hold a private service on the Kansas farm that she grew to love.
